Matthew and Charley confirmed their split last year
The star of Emmerdale, Matthew Wolfenden, has spoken out about his divorce from Charley Webb, stating that it was “not his decision” to call it quits.
Recognised for his part as ITV’s popular soap opera David Metcalfe, the actor said he was being followed by trolls and wanted to’set the record straight’.
After five years, Matthew and Charley officially announced their breakup last year. The actor has since refuted rumours that he was “cheating” after being seen with personal trainer Heather Scott-Martin. Reportedly, he claimed to have met Heather after the dissolution of his marriage.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Matthew addressed the claims, clarifying that he and Charley remained close friends and that the divorce was not a “decision” made by him.
“To set the record straight once and for all… and hopefully this will be the end of it, and the end of me getting horrible messages on social media and people saying nasty stuff to me in the street,” Matthew said in a recent statement.
“1: I did not choose to dissolve my marriage. 2: A long time after my marriage ended, I met Heather, with whom I was seen in London. I hope that this makes things clear for all of the trolls out there.
Matthew said, “Oh, and…3: (and most importantly) Charley and I are still good friends,” in a another post. Our children are and always will be our whole lives.
