Actor Ian Peck, known for his role as Curly, one of Tommy Shelby’s goons in all six seasons of the popular BBC drama Peaky Blinders, has been hired in Coronation Street as John Perry, a friend of murderer Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) who has accepted responsibility for Natasha’s death.
Next week, Sam Robertson’s character Adam Barlow will reach a new low as he joins forces with Harvey to frame a cancer patient for the murder that occurred two years ago out of desperation.
Ian’s resumé is strong; it includes parts in Endeavour, Silent Witness, and the big office success Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, in addition to two prior guest spots on the cobbles.
Driven by his intense desire to free his estranged wife Sarah (Tina O’Brien) from her abusive husband Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), Adam has made a deal with the devil himself in recent weeks, namely Damon’s brother Harvey, promising to assist in appealing his sentence and release him from prison in exchange for helping to remove Damon from the cobbles permanently.
Next week, after a fight with Damon, Adam approaches Sarah and tells her to sell their fancy Redbank flat because he doesn’t want Damon to live in the house that used to belong to his family.
After locating John and following him to Weatherfield Hospital to talk about his “involvement” in Natasha’s untimely death, he is shocked to discover that John is a cancer patient.
Adam is obviously not at all comfortable with John’s arrangement with Harvey to take the fall in return for his family’s safety after his death.
He is forced to carry out his bizarre act of retaliation, and he becomes furious when Sarah informs him that she and Damon are pleased to leave the apartment because they want to purchase a home with a yard.
