Emmerdale spoilers: Moira Dingle stunned as Cain reveals big secret on what has been tormenting him

It was an emotional conversation between the couple (Picture: ITV)

In Tuesday’s (January 30) Emmerdale episode, Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) expressed concern over her husband Cain (Jeff Hordley).

This made sense because, in addition to having just left the hospital against medical advice after fighting with Aaron (Danny Miller) and receiving brain damage, he had also recently found out that his sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter) was suffering from the same kind of breast cancer that killed their mother.

But there was more going on, and Moira was curious as to what it was. “I recognise you,” she said to her spouse. The way he responded confused me: “You used to know me.”

Moira thought about the comment and subsequently questioned him about it. It took some time to get Cain to tell her about his emotions since he is not one to do so readily.

He added that the guy Moira had known in the past would have dealt with Aaron Dingle without any issues, most likely instead of becoming worse after Aaron had beaten him. Cain said that he had changed from the guy he had been to someone who wasn’t even a man. He was absurd.

He informed his wife, “The real Cain Dingle is dead.”

Subsequently, Cain stepped outside for some fresh air and ran into Chas. They chatted about their present lifestyles and how their upbringing by abusive Shadrach Dingle (Andy Devine) and untrustworthy Faith (Sally Dexter) hadn’t given them the ideal start in life.

After their argument, Cain ended himself in the hospital (Picture: ITV)

Cain said that their parents had “infected” them. Chas agreed that they don’t always have to be the same person and that they should work to “break the cycle” of bad parents passing on issues to their kids.

When Cain got home, he confided in Moira about the moment he felt his situation had altered. It was about Michael Wildman’s character Al Chapman (shot) and his attempts to keep his son Kyle (played by Huey Quinn) out of jail after the child accidentally shot himself.

This was like a “handbrake,” according to Cain, and all that was left was a “weak pathetic man,” someone he didn’t like or recognise.

Moira views what Cain perceives as weakness as strength, pointing out that he has made several sacrifices for his family and was even prepared to spend the rest of his life in jail to keep Kyle safe.

“This is the strongest you’ve ever been, and I’ve never been happier or more in love with you than I am,” she said to him.
