on an attempt to save her career, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) on Coronation Street is ready to go to all-new depths.
A few years ago, Bethany left Weatherfield to start a new career as a writer. Bethany has spoken about her writing since coming back, but she hasn’t really gone into great length about the topics she writes about.
This week, Bethany was writing on an article at the café when Daniel (Rob Mallard) discovered her. Once again, she was sneaky and withheld details about the work from me, so I was disappointed to see that her editor had verified it wasn’t being commissioned.
When Bethany looked at her bank account tonight, January 31, it was evident that she was having trouble. After that, she went to see Suki, a journalist with the Gazette, and inquired about a job.
Suki acknowledged that she was unable to offer Bethany a job, but suggested that she try reaching out to Chit Chat Magazine.
Although Bethany was certain she didn’t want to work for a gossip magazine, she quickly got an idea after worrying about her lack of money.
While Bethany was at the bar ordering drinks at the pub, she struck up a conversation with Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) over Daisy’s (Charlotte Jordan) distaste for her.
When the topic of “catfishing” was brought up, Beth (Lisa George) perked up. She had joined in on Daisy and Ryan’s (Ryan Prescott) talk when she arrived.
Jenny was hesitant to discuss in detail what Daisy and Ryan had gone through, but Bethany didn’t mind.
She verified she had a piece for Chit Chat Magazine on the phone with Suki that evening.
Even though Bethany doesn’t know much, she just has to ask a few individuals a few pointed questions to have the opportunity to sell someone’s painful and emotional true tale without their consent.
Where does this leave Daisy, then?
Will Daisy’s activities lead her to struggle again? Daisy was too preoccupied with assisting Ryan to process her trauma after the acid attack. Will this happen again?
And how will Bethany’s friends and family respond to the betrayal if the story is commissioned?
