Ruby (Beth Cordingly), the wife of Caleb Milligan (William Ash), hasn’t been in the Emmerdale hamlet long, but she’s already created quite a commotion.
Ruby became irritated last week after learning that her lover Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) and son Nicky (Lewis Cope) were complicit in a homophobic assault while she was unaware of it.
In order to get to know Caleb’s (William Ash) Dingle family better, Ruby decided to set up a lunch. This development irritated Caleb, who reminded Ruby that they were divorcing and that she was intervening too much, but Ruby showed little concern.
Ruby invited Moira (Natalie J Robb), Cain (Jeff Hordley), Tracy (Amy Walsh), and Nate (Jurell Carter) to lunch, and the awkwardness began the moment they came through the door.
In addition to their lack of familiarity with Ruby, Tracy was expected to keep her love for Caleb a secret, while Moira pretended not to know that Nate’s wife had been having an affair with his uncle.
Ruby’s indifference to other people’s emotions began to grow as she drank more wine. Moira became enraged with Ruby, who had spent hours making the lunch, and turned her attention on Tracy and Nate when she mistakenly thought their meal was takeout.
Tracy was questioned whether her trust concerns stemmed from Nate’s “affair” by an inquisitive Ruby. She was alluding to the moment when Moira and Nate had an affair in Emmerdale when they entered a parallel realm, before they discovered he was Cain’s son.
Ruby further twisted the situation by asking Moira who was better at sex—Cain or his son—after having already made the meal intolerable.
Oh no.
The family left in the afternoon, leaving Caleb enraged with Ruby.
When Caleb ran into Tracy that evening, she had some harsh things to say about his marriage.
Tracy didn’t really have the right to remark on his relationship, according to Caleb, since if she was being honest with herself, she would realize that her marriage was over and that she no longer loved Nate.
