Over to you Corrie! Jenny Platt is hoping for a full-time return as Violet

Prior to her eagerly anticipated comeback as Violet Wilson next week, Coronation Street star Jenny Platt has urged for a long-term stay on the program.

The actress, who last made an appearance thirteen years ago for a brief episode in which she reunited with Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) in London, is reprising the part she performed for four years until 2008.

Before, she left Weatherfield and severed her relationship with Sean because he desired to be involved in Dylan’s (Liam McCheyne) upbringing.

He came back up north to live with his father a few years ago, and in the last few months, he’s become involved in a violent bullying narrative that has him charged with knife crime.

Dylan was arrested for having a bladed object in his hands after he consented to handle the weapon for his cruel partner Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), and their court date is quickly approaching.

Dylan jumps in to inform Violet that she is in Ibiza and cannot attend the court when Sean confesses to Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) that he hasn’t spoken to her about the ordeal.

Eileen contacts Violet because she thinks they’re not sharing the whole truth, and when she gets to No. 11, she chastises Sean for being a terrible dad.

Jenny expressed her fear of resuming her role as Violet’s assistant, saying, “It was such a massive part of my life and one that I absolutely adored and genuinely loved every minute of being there.”

She continued, “Even though it’s a different building, it still has that same kind of family vibe.”

Wednesday, March 20th marks Violet’s comeback scenes. Although she will only be returning for a brief period of time, Jenny hopes that one day she will be able to return to the regular cast: “I’ve never felt like, ‘Oh yes, that’s it, I want to put that character to bed,” because Violet is a warm, compassionate character who has made a lot of mistakes, making me feel like I can relate to her on a human level.”

Of course, if Dylan was getting into more trouble, I’d want to see what she could get up to.
