Amidst rumors that she is leaving the soap opera, Sue Cleaver’s Eileen Grimshaw will be crucial to Violet Wilson (Jenny Platt) when she returns to Coronation Street the next week.
The actress made her casting announcement for Sister Act: The Musical public in October.
At a few locations throughout the UK, Sue will assume the role of Mother Superior, which has previously been portrayed by iconic actors Denise Black, Jennifer Saunders, and Lesley Joseph.
She recently became a member of the panel for the daytime ITV program Loose Women, which is filmed in London’s Television Centre.
Some viewers were concerned that she would be leaving the program after 24 years because both of these new chances will take her far from Weatherfield.
The street fixture has been involved in some of the major plots of the soap opera, such as the marriage to the evil serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre).
Having recently informed longtime tenant Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) that he would have to move out due to his son Dylan (Liam McCheyne) being charged with knife crime, the character appears to have no shortage of drama ahead of him.
Dylan’s mother Violet reaches out to him after Sean acknowledges that he hasn’t told her about the ordeal, and she shows up on the day of the hearing.
Violet becomes enraged and tears as Sean is chastised for his poor parenting abilities when the boys return from court and tell her everything that has been going on while she has been blissfully clueless in London.
Will she try and take her son back to the capital, and with Sue Cleaver about to head on tour, how will Eileen make her temporary departure?
