In forthcoming Emmerdale episodes, when Cain (Jeff Hordley), Caleb (William Ash), and Aaron (Danny Miller) receive the results of their BRCA2 gene tests, there will be conflicting emotions for Chas Dingle’s brothers and son (Lucy Pargeter). After learning that there was a hereditary component to the breast cancer for which she is presently receiving treatment, Chas pushed her family members to get the test.
As Danny Miller revealed, although some have good news, Aaron is in for a surprise.
“Aaron turns out to be a positive outcome,” he informed us. He went on to say that his character’s response is to keep the information to himself.
I believe he has always been among those that finds it bothersome to have people staring at him all the time.
“And if he told people right away that he hasn’t handled it himself, he’s going to get a lot of questions about how he’s doing,” which is really the worst thing you could ask him since he’s that kind of person and doesn’t like questions.
So, yes, he finds it amusing that everyone else is pessimistic. I believe it’s almost like a defense mechanism where he’s like: “I’m negative and if I see it like that, no one needs to know.” In reality, though, he’s supporting the idea that he’s negative as well. He’s kind of thinking along those lines.
While Aaron may be refusing to accept the test results, Danny reacted quite differently when he learned how his character’s plot would unfold.
He stated, “We were given some research on the BRCA2 gene, and as far as I know, it’s a very interesting and untold story in terms of Emmerdale and soap operas in general.” “But obviously, if they do end up with the BRCA2 gene or anything else, it’s almost like a ticking time bomb of if it’s ever triggered,” the person said.
Of course, if the worst were to happen and Aaron too gets cancer, that would imply an early death plot point, which was not something Danny was looking forward to since he had just recently returned to the soap opera.
He said, “To be honest, I thought, ‘Oh no, I’ve just moved to Leeds, please don’t kill me off!”
“I’m not sure if they will investigate it.” If they are, they most definitely haven’t told me. It implies that Aaron might be affected by it and that he might eventually need to deal with that aspect of things.
Danny told us he thought it was an important narrative for the program to explore, even though he was rooting for the best for Aaron.
“It’s foolish of me to ignore male breast cancer,” he acknowledged.
It would be an intriguing narrative to play, and I think it’s hard to not imagine that it’s something that will occur at some point. I spoke to a few other individuals here, men, and they weren’t aware of it. Playing that narrative would be fun, and hopefully he moves past it.
We’ll have to wait and watch what the tale writers and producers decide to do. I hope the narrative is recounted with great attention and detail and has a happy ending for both Aaron and me. I think it will be intriguing to tell.
