Coronation Street spoilers show that things will take a dark turn in the ITV soap after The Rovers Return is targeted by thieves.
Next week, Jodie Prenger’s Glenda Shuttleworth on Coronation Street will have a harrowing experience when she confronts robbers robbing the Rovers Return. According to the teasers made public by ITV, the raucous barman confronts the attackers as they rob the establishment.
She has agreed to arrange a speed dating night at the bar, and that’s when they meet. While Daisy Midgely (Charlotte Jordan) is having a break with her boyfriend Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is hosting a meal with Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox), and she is alone in the bar.
The effervescent barmaid is the most glamorous hostess, all decked up for the occasion. Regretfully, the romantic aspects of the evening are a little lacking. She shuts as usual as the evening comes to an end. She gets ready for bed and goes through to the bar, where she discovers robbers wearing masks and armed with baseball bats robbing the cash register.
They are not amused at being discovered, and one of the guys gives her an order to get on the ground while menacingly waving his baseball bat. She follows orders despite her natural fear as they proceed to loot the tavern.
Glenda is too scared to stop them, so they take off with the goods they have taken, along with the evening’s earnings.
A terrified and distraught Glenda makes a tremulous phone call to the police after she is certain they have left.
Jenny is horrified to hear what has occurred and regrets leaving Glenda alone when she gets home.
Jenny insisted Glenda take the morning off, even though Glenda attempts to put on a brave front.
Still, there are additional consequences from the crime, and they touch more than just Glenda.
Later, after learning they left Paul’s laptop there the night before, Peter Ash’s character Paul Foreman and Daniel Brocklebank’s character Billy Mayhew contact the bar to get Paul’s laptop, which he needs to help him with his speech.
Regretfully, it was among the items the robbers targeted, and they are devastated to learn it was taken.
Glenda feels awful about it and feels that this only makes her guilt emotions worse.
When the pub closes later, she offers Jenny and Daisy a nightcap, but on her way to the bar, she keeps thinking about the terrible things that happened the previous evening, and it’s obvious that they’re having a big impact on her.
