ITV spoilers released ahead of upcoming Emmerdale scenes show that Amy Wyatt and Matty Barton will have their wedding dreams crushed when they face prejudice.
Even though Amy Wyatt and Matty Barton are enamoured with each other, a transphobic Emmerdale resident is about to ruin their ceremony plans. Even though the couple has already decided when to say “I do,” not everyone is excited about their intended marriage.
At the Woolpack in March of last year, Amy (played by Natalie Ann Jamieson) and her fiancé Matty (Ash Palmisciano) got engaged. The proposal was made while Amy was attempting to get in touch with her sister Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) and was embroiled in a custody dispute with Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).
But Amy and Matty appear to be back on track, and scenes featuring the couple selecting their wedding location will air next week. Their joy will be dashed, though, when Flo Wilson’s character, Claudette Anderson, finds out Matty is transsexual.
The soon-to-be couple will choose the Village Hall as the location of their April 17 wedding in scenes that will run on March 28. However, when the elderly inhabitant refuses to let them hold their ceremony there, they will undoubtedly encounter discrimination.
Because of her beliefs, Claudette has an incorrect opinion about Amy and Matty’s relationship. She quickly informs the couple that as the Village Hall is regarded as church property, they are not allowed to use it.
Even though Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) is eager to find a new location for the wedding, Matty is obviously taken aback by Claudette’s response.
Later, in the Hide, he confides with his soon-to-be spouse that he simply wants to enjoy his wedding as himself and doesn’t want to be a trans role model.
Amy tries not to show how devastated she is over the choice, even though she wants to support Matty’s desire for a low-key wedding.
Will Claudette cause more issues for Matty and Amy’s intended marriage?
Or will she eventually warm to the notion and consent to the couple’s marriage in the Village Hall?
Ash, 34, expressed excitement for the big day and his expectations for his character’s impending wedding scenes last year.
As an actor in soap operas, he said to Digital Spy last year, “You always want the soap wedding!
“You also want the accompanying drama. I absolutely adore working with Amy’s actress Nat Jamieson. In real life, she is one of my closest friends.”
He continued by saying he was excited to record the sequences and that he thought it would be a “big wedding.”
