OH MY DALES Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley reveals heartbreaking reason she refuses to have cancer test – despite her mum dying from it

Mandy Dingle from Emmerdale recently underwent testing for a cancer-causing gene, but the actress who plays the role does not intend to follow suit.

Given that her mother tragically died of breast cancer 12 years ago, Lisa Riley has disclosed that there is a possibility she carries the BRCA2 gene.

This implies that because her current soap opera narrative touches so near to home, acting it out will be much more difficult.

Lisa does not want to add that worry to her own life, even though the star went on Emmerdale with other relatives to find out if they are genetically inclined to the condition.

“It’s my life, and I don’t want to have that test done,” she stated to the Mirror.

Long before this plot, we had years of discussions about it at Emmerdale, and people would ask me, ‘But Lisa, with your background and your gene pool, why would you not do it?’

“I answer, ‘Because I don’t have to.'” All I want is to be myself and go about my daily existence. I might be struck by a truck tomorrow.”

Although Lisa has an annual mammography to check for any suspicious cells or growths, she would prefer not to know if she carries the BRCA1 or 2 gene.

She does believe that it is beneficial that show executives are educating the public about the health problems that contribute to cancer, even though she still wants to preserve her personal peace of mind.

She continued: “It’s wonderful to know that we will be teaching the audience about it.”

Since her close relative Chas Dingle was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy, her character has been going through a tough period.

Following a BRCA2 test, Caleb and Cain Dingle were given the all-clear.

Unfortunately, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), Chas’s son, did not experience this.

He hasn’t spoken anything about the finding that he carries the gene up until now.
