Before actress Harriet Bibby took over as Summer Spellman in 2020, the teenager portrayed the role for three years. Before quitting to seek other chances, Matilda starred in 147 episodes of the ITV serial opera. These days, she co-stars in the dark comedy Passenger with another legendary Corrie performer.
The tightly knit village of Chaddar Vale, which is the setting for the new ITV series, is overtaken by a slew of strange and supernatural crimes. Playing Lilly, Matilda appears completely different from her cobblestone days. She has since given up on her blonde hairstyle in favour of an auburn one with freckles all over her nose.

Alongside Debbie Rush, who was a longtime favourite on Corrie and is best known for her role as Anna Windass, Teresa Bryant star Karen Henthorn, who played in the soap opera from 2007 to 2010, will also make an appearance. Viewers will find themselves playing a game of soap opera as former Emmerdale star Tom Lister, who portrayed Carl King in the rival soap opera, appears as Nick Goodheart in the new show.
One day, Matilda said that living on Coronation Street was a little limiting. “To be able to work on other shows/films/projects,” she informed her admirers, she had left. She stated: “When you work at Corrie you’re under a contract which means you can’t work on anything else while you’re there so it was quite limiting.”
“I’d like to say thank you to my second family, the cast, crew, and viewers who have supported me during my time on the cobbles,” she said after deciding to quit the programme. I felt it was time for a change after three and a half wonderful years, and I’m thrilled to be beginning that next chapter with a new career.”
Since departing from Corrie, Matilda has been rather busy. In 2021, she portrayed an adolescent Lin in an episode of Alma’s Not Normal. She acted in a number of films before joining Corrie, including the 2019 film The Last Boy and the BBC series Doctors.
In addition, Jack’s and Matilda’s coworkers from the programme are giddy about their upcoming season. Harriet Bibby, who is expressing excitement with a lot of emojis, is asking, “WHO’S READY?!” Amy Barlow’s actress Elle Mulvaney is encouraging everyone to watch it as well, writing on social media: “Passenger with our @JackJamesRyan on ITV1 and ITVX! with a popcorn emoji.”
