Next week on Emmerdale, there will be emotional moments when Aaron Dingle’s terrible truth is revealed.
Fans of the ITV soap opera will remember that Chas Dingle, Aaron’s mother, was recently diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Breast Cancer Now was involved in the soap opera’s poignant plot. Following her struggle with breast cancer in 2022, Chas’ mother Faith Dingle sadly passed away. This is when Chas received her diagnosis.
Chas told her family earlier this year that the BRCA2 gene defect is what caused her cancer. Chas’s son Aaron and brothers Cain and Caleb were taken aback by the shocking news that they were likely carriers and could have passed it on to their offspring.
Chas encouraged her family members to schedule testing appointments out of concern for their safety, but as a result, the three became evasive and anxious. They seemed to have a minor change of heart, though, after Chas pointed out that they could save not just themselves but also the lives of the individuals they care about the most.
It was later discovered that Aaron discovered he had inherited his mother’s defective BRCA2 gene, whereas Cain and Caleb tested negative. Aaron, however, lied and said he tested negative for the defective gene, refusing to tell Chas the truth.
In later scenes, Liam Cavanagh and Aaron will be under intense pressure as the village doctor tries to hide Aaron’s true gene test result from Chas’s inquisitive queries. But when Liam quickly leaves, Chas is really worried about what he might have hinted at.
Aaron gives Chas the slightest hint about the truth when he asks him a direct inquiry regarding the gene test later on. Now that his mother is aware of the reality, Aaron struggles to deal with his feelings and alternates between denial and rage. Aaron doesn’t take long to inform Liam that he’s gone too far.
When Chas asks a clearly hurt Liam the following day if Aaron is to blame, Liam has no choice but to grudgingly comply. Liam tries her hardest to convince her to change her mind and approach Aaron differently when Chas rushes to confront him right away.
Liam’s current girlfriend Ella Forster witnesses the romantic moment between the two ex-boyfriends, who had a brief affair earlier this year. Aaron’s character opens up and admits that the gene test result feels like a death sentence as Chas approaches his predicament with tact. Aaron takes a huge stride forward when he confides in Chas about his anxieties, and Chas’s former partner Paddy Kirk assures Aaron that he will always be there for him.
