With Damon Hay winding up in prison with brother Harvey Gaskell, it looks like the Coronation Street favourite could be set to exit the ITV soap in upcoming scenes
Following his imprisonment in recent scenes, Coronation Street has hinted at Damon Hay’s (Ciarán Griffiths) potential departure. There are presently concerns that the beloved character on the ITV soap opera may be permanently departing Weatherfield, since his future there seems to be questionable.
In Coronation Street’s episode airing on Wednesday, March 27, Damon was taken into custody due to his involvement in a heist. Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), his girlfriend, was saddened to learn that Damon had returned to illegal activities despite his earlier promise to leave everything up for her.
Another setback for Sarah came when her husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who had been separated from her, showed up for a police search of her apartment and told her that she had erred in her previous confidence in Damon. He also warned her to keep away from Damon and his brother Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor), since they are both professional crooks.
Later on, Sarah learned that Damon had entered a plea of guilty to all counts and that he would probably face a long jail term. In the depressing circumstances, she knew her partner may be gone forever.
In addition, Sarah was informed by Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown), who accepted to represent Damon, that Damon gave up his freedom and saved the life of the van driver to keep her and their daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) safe. Later, Sarah got a call from the jail telling her that Damon wanted to come see her.
After Damon bought his way inside his cell by bribing a guard, he was reunited with his brother Harvey in jail. After the fight between the two brothers in the cell, Harvey revealed that he and Damon had collaborated while they were both incarcerated.
It is unclear whether Damon will accept his evil brother’s offer and what will happen when Sarah pays him a visit. But as Harvey is expected to depart Coronation Street permanently in the spring, it is possible that Damon may follow.
Harvey’s actor Will Mellor has said that he has already shot his last scenes, which will be shown in the next weeks. Harvey originally showed up in 2021 as Simon Barlow’s drug lord employer. A year later, during Corrie’s Super Soap Week, he reappeared, intending to get vengeance on Leanne for having him jailed.
During his short time on the cobbles, he has been a part of numerous major stories on the ITV soap opera. Harvey made a comeback to television earlier this year when Adam begged for his assistance in getting rid of Damon in an effort to win back his wife Sarah.
