Fans were taken aback when Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan revealed a recent illness. The soap opera star has said that she suffered from psychosis after her breakup with football player Scott Sinclair.

The couple began dating when Helen was only 19 years old, and they were together for 13 years. Charlie, Delilah, and Matilda’s father, Scott, and Helen declared in 2022 that they were calling it quits on their romance.

Helen finally revealed her health crisis on social media, but she assured that she was in a “really good happy place now” after treatment.

“Basically, I really struggled mental health wise December/January,” the 33-year-old said. I didn’t really feel any better after Christmas, and when I took the kids away for the new year, I didn’t feel all that much better either.

I really can’t speak about the horrible things I was going through on Instagram. I was eager to go on my theatre tour, so when I returned from vacation, I was ready to go.

“I thought it was best for me to take some medication so I’d feel better and be able to cope better with being a working single mum of three and I was emotionally struggling with the break up from the father of my kids but I had a really bad reaction though to the medication ( an ADHD medication) and it sent me into a psychosis for a few days which I didn’t know I was in.”

She said: “I’ve always been honest on here and I feel in a really good happy place now xxx therapy can be amazing and I feel like I’ve worked on myself with things that were quite tough to me but I feel lighter now.”

Helen was scheduled to play Miss Scarlett in the theatrical version of Cluedo 2, but she had to withdraw for health concerns. Ellie Leach, the champion of Strictly Come Dancing, took up her duties.

Supporting remarks deluged the comments section from a large portion of her one million followers. “I’m glad you’re feeling better, Helen,” someone remarked.

Another person said, “I sensed the word strength, even though I read the word struggle.” Asking for assistance is really courageous, particularly for a working mother with a hectic schedule. There’s no need for you to elaborate.”

A third person said “Aww Helen it’s not easy looking after 3 kids with the pressures of life too you are an amazing mum so happy you took time out for your self all the best.”

As to The Daily Mail, the reason for the breakup with Scott was that they were “growing apart.” After nine months without dating, Helen created a profile on a “celebrity” dating app and resumed her dating life.

The mother of three is most known for her work on Coronation Street as Rosie Webster. She had a short comeback in 2017 after appearing on the serial opera from 2000 to 2012, and she left the show in 2018.
