Exclusive: As he got ready to enjoy Cirque du Soleil’s Ovo show in Manchester, Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton spoke with Express.co.uk on the red carpet about his little-known family link to his co-star.
The reason Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully on Coronation Street, “adores” his on-screen son Dylan—who is currently embroiled in a horrific bullying plot—has been made public. It’s been fantastic—not at all terrifying. He told Express.co.uk, “I’ve known and adored him and his twin brother since they were babies my arms.
“While the plot is quite serious, it isn’t true. That’s still something you recall, and it’s been a pleasure having me back on the show. each and every minute. I had known them since they were little, as I mentioned. I have pictures of me from when they were quite tiny with both of them.”
Readers might also be surprised to learn that Liam McCheyne’s character, Dylan, on Corrie, was named after both him and his twin. Liam Connor is a combination of Dylan’s true name and the name of his brother Connor, who first pursued a career in acting but then turned to cricket.
It implies that in order to fit into the role for the drama on film, Liam was made to carry a knife in order to hurt a boy who shared his name. Despite the somber subject matter, Antony told Express.co.uk that the behind-the-scenes environment differs greatly from what fans have witnessed on television.
“Having the twins in my life and having Liam return has been wonderful. Liam now completes the work independently; Connor used to do it. I find it quite special,” he exclaimed. “Do we resemble a large family? Indeed. We must be. You just need to get on with it since we spend the entire day together every day.”
He acknowledged that the bullying plot will go on for at least “the rest of the year,” but he kept his mouth shut about any possible spoilers.
After the dramatic scenes in which Dylan announced he was pleading guilty to frightening the youngster who had previously been his friend with a “bladed article,” Antony admits he has “no idea” how Dylan’s character will grow.
Mason harassed Liam because that is his behavior; perhaps he is unaware of any other options, but I am aware of them. I realized what I was doing was wrong, and it might have killed my friend.” In one tight moment, he agonized.
In response, Sean said, “You can’t chuck away your future because a complete slime led you astray. Even you were afraid. You were only attempting to get by.” Dylan, nevertheless, was not going to back down from his actions.
In the meantime, viewers will witness Dylan’s fate after being tricked into going to a precinct by the main bully, Mason (Luca Toolan).
He tricked Dylan into coming by pretending to be an attractive female, but Mason is there instead of her when he gets there.
Without a doubt, he will be incensed because Dylan has been charged with driving offenses as a result of his complete revelation to the police.
Considering that he could face a jail sentence in any case, will Mason disregard prudence and exact revenge on his ex-friend who exposed him?
Peer pressure caused Dylan to participate in Liam’s bullying at first, but will he now become the target of the knife?
