Next week, Coronation Street fans may have to bid farewell to a beloved character on the popular ITV soap opera.

Fans of the soap opera will remember that earlier this year, troubled teenager Lauren Bolton unexpectedly fled the cobbles. Bobby, Lauren’s love interest, was alarmed to discover Lauren’s apartment unlocked and missing. Fans of the soap opera never saw Lauren, who had an enigmatic boyfriend before leaving, go, and it seems that she only notified Roy Cropper and a few other close friends about her intention to depart Weatherfield.

Bobby called the police to report Lauren missing, and since Roy is a kind person, suspicions have been raised about him. This is especially true after Roy was mistakenly arrested for the murder of his former employee after he was seen cleaning Lauren’s flat.

Next week, the ITV soap opera will provide further details as the disappearance of Lauren continues to captivate viewers and inhabitants of the Cobbles. In subsequent episodes, Bernie Winter is shocked to discover that Lauren’s mother’s contact information has been released online. Roy, against the advice of his friends, phones Lauren’s mother, Kerry, and leaves a message expressing his sympathies.

But the following week, Kerry travels to Weatherfield to meet with Roy—or so he believes—after learning the startling truth that the lady in issue is really called Alice. In the future episodes, Roy hides upstairs after experiencing vicious internet and phone harassment.

Later in the week, Evelyn and Shona get a clear message from Nina that they need to answer the phone since Roy is expecting a call from Lauren’s mother, even though they have been receiving hostile and hoax calls. Stu informs Yasmeen and Alya that he plans to assist Roy clear his name after going through internet comments since he understands what it’s like to be falsely accused after his previous jail experience.

But after making an effort to assist and striking up a conversation with a homeless person at the precinct in the hopes of learning more about Lauren, Stu takes out his cash and heads back to Speed Daal with a bleeding face, not seeing the man is picking up a brick.

As Evelyn informs Roy that Christian, the son of his late girlfriend Hayley, has made some harsh comments about him and Hayley online, Roy is shocked. Later, to the surprise of Roy and Nina, Lauren’s mother, Kerry, stops by the café to introduce herself. However, it becomes clear a day later that there is more to the scenes than what has been made public. When Kerry contacts Roy and asks him to leave her alone and never to speak to her again, Roy is left frightened.

The lady on the phone is not the same woman who is at the café at the time of this talk and is posing as Kerry, the character who has visited Roy. Feeling shaken, he dashes back to the café to tell Shona and Nina what he has seen.

Kerry the fake, also known as Alice is quickly revealed, since she is at the café right now. Soon after, when she begins recording everyone and taking notes on everything she sees, she is compelled to reveal her actual identity and her genuine plans for Roy.

Afterwards, when Roy and Evelyn leave, they run into Alice as she is recording them. Alice slips and hits her head, making matters worse for a frantic Roy who attempts to stop her. Alice accuses Roy of assaulting her swiftly and leaves.

Later on, when Dee-Dee goes back to the café, she informs Roy’s loved ones—Carla, Nina, Shona, and Evelyn—that he is being accused of killing Lauren. This is when things take an unexpected turn. Then, in the ITV soap opera, Roy is shown sitting by himself in his police cell, very terrified. Does Roy have an out now, or will he be cleared in due course?
