Emmerdale’s Tuesday, April 2, opened with two bits of news for Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell). Both of them dealt with individuals leaving the community, but the second one proved disastrous while the first was welcomed.

Eric had to ask Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) to assist him decipher a jumbled text message that his buddy Rodney Blackstock (Patrick Mower) had sent him. It claimed that Anil Goutam’s character, Amit Sharma, had fled the Dales and made his way back to India after attempting to con Eric out of a large sum of money.

This was somewhat expected as Pollard had seen Amit being pushed down the stairs by Jai (Chris Bisson) and knew that Jai intended to make sure Amit was never seen in the village again.

The subsequent communication made Eric seem even more worried.

Afterwards, he called Jacob and Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) to the store to give some news. Matthew Wolfenden, as David, had called him. Jacob was relieved, thinking that this would mean his father will soon be back in Emmerdale, giving him a chance to put things right.

David departed the area in November of last year (ITV photo).

David’s heart crushed upon learning that Jacob was seeing Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), his former flame and the person he wanted to be reconciled with. This is the reason David departed in the first place.

Unfortunately, Eric’s news to Jacob that David would not be returning to Emmerdale and would instead be living in London with Priya (Fiona Wade) and Amba permanently cut short Jacob’s moment of joy.

Following David’s departure, Jacob and Victoria informed Leyla and Eric about their relationship. They had a negative response at first, but over time, their demeanor has somewhat changed. They are now back at the beginning according to the most recent news.

Victoria subsequently revealed in Ethan (Emile John) that she felt constantly remorseful for what her actions had done to David and the rest of the family after Jacob had informed her about David. “Jacob has essentially given up both of his parents in order to be with me.”

She countered that her actions had caused a great deal of other people miserable, to which Ethan replied that she deserved to be happy. She seemed to be correct, because Jacob was about to have a confrontational meeting with Leyla.

Leyla informed him that the idea of his kid never returning to Yorkshire had Eric “in bits.” He would list the existing residence of Jacob and Leyla for sale.

She told her surprised son, “I hope you and Victoria will be very happy living together.”

She said to him, “I think I would prefer to find a place by myself.” “You’ve already made your decision.”

But can the romance endure if Victoria feels so guilty? Can Jacob’s family ever forgive him if it doesn’t?
