Tracy Barlow actress Kate Ford has taken to social media after her character appeared to exit Coronation Street for sunny Spain on Tuesday night’s episode seemingly for good
Actress Kate Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow on Coronation Street, took to social media Tuesday night after her legendary character seemed to step off the cobbles.
Tracy was seen bidding farewell to her family members, including her father Ken Barlow and daughter Amy Barlow, in the most recent episode. After finishing her drink at The Rovers, she embraced her loved ones and departed from the cobbles, perhaps for good, heading to sunny Spain.
After 47 years of the character living in Weatherfield, teasers had hinted that she would be leaving the soap opera, even if her future was still unknown. Although she did leave for a spell, 47-year-old Kate returned to the position shortly after taking it on in 2002 and has been there ever since.
Actress Kate, who has not yet confirmed her role in the soap opera, rushed to Instagram to share a mysterious photo on her Story, after the news that Tracy had left the street to begin a new life in Spain with her boyfriend Tommy Orpington. In an apparent reference to her character Tracy’s new love interest Tommy Orpington, Kate posted a picture of a public transportation vehicle with the word “Orpington” written on the front.
In another post, Kate posted a selfie with the caption, “Rain, rain, rain.” The star’s 118K fans were quick to react, pleading with her to reconsider and wishing Tracy hadn’t really departed. A user commented with a love emoji, “Please don’t leave Corrie.” Another user said, “I hope last night’s episode was a late April Fool and you are not leaving.” Still another user wrote, “Here’s hoping you make a return to the street.” Wouldn’t be the same in your absence! X.”
Kate responded with a heart-emoji “me yours love you” to her co-star Sally Carman, who portrays Abi Webster, who also posted a message saying, “I miss your face!” It’s unclear whether or when the character will return to the program since no spoilers about her have been revealed.
After Tracy dropped a shocking revelation, viewers are left wondering whether the character would really go. Thanks to a hint, several followers of Tracy on Twitter (X) believe they have deduced her destiny. Fans of the soap opera noted that Tracy still runs her flower store, which may contribute to her eventual comeback, should she decide to leave the cobbles. But with coworker Mary Taylor, the business will be in good hands while she’s away.
One individual posted on Twitter, now X, asking: “What will happen to the flower store next? Another user wrote: “Tracy is just leaving her florist business? #corrie.” So does Mary own a portion of it? One person said, “So Tracy seems to have forgotten she owns a florist. #corrie,” while another added, “#Corrie.”
