Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked during the latest visit to the cobbles, when Carla Connor finally learnt the truth about who had stolen her money and exacted revenge
During Wednesday night’s visit to Weatherfield, Daisy Midgely and Jenny Connor’s deceit finally came up with them after months of enjoying the good life on Coronation Street cobbles after scamming Carla Connor. Regular fans will recall that after serial murderer Stephen Reid’s death last year, Daisy and Jenny stole thousands of pounds from Carla and used the cash to purchase the Rovers Return.
When Stephen was employed at Underworld, he had initially taken the money from Carla in an attempt to pay off his obligations. However, when Stephen passed away, Carla was unable to find the money and thought it was gone forever. Daisy and Jenny, unbeknownst to her, managed to retrieve Stephen’s laptop and erase his accounts, sparing their cherished bar.
The two kept it a secret and thought they had gotten away with the crime, but when Bethany Platt, Stephen’s great-niece, started looking into it, she discovered Daisy had taken the money and, worse, that the bartender had lied to her face about it being a loan.
Carla addressed Jenny on Wednesday’s show after concurring with Bethany that things weren’t adding up, as more and more people started to raise questions. After being prodded into confessing, Jenny eventually opened up and apologized deeply, promising to repay every dime.
Daisy didn’t feel bad about what she did, and she even made fun of Jenny for saying sorry to her. But in the final act of retaliation, Carla said that the bar was hers since her money had been used to buy it, and as the new owner, she fired Daisy as soon as she took over.
It’s surprising that Jenny was given her job back, but Carla did warn her that her future was “hanging on by a thread” since she insisted on owning the Rovers Return until all debts were settled. Daisy was still reeling from the events when her boyfriend Ryan found out about her transgression and became enraged by her actions.
However, supporters expressed their gratitude on social media, with many posting their opinions about the victory of justice. “Jenny finally told Carla the truth!” a fan wrote. It is going to begin soon!”
“Am very much here for the return of feisty no nonsense Queen Carla,” a second admirer said.
Prior to a fourth watcher saying: “Carla is very good tonight. Been waiting a long time for this Carla version!”
“Carla sacking Daisy is iconic, love this Carla so much,” a fifth admirer added after that.
