We most definitely wouldn’t have predicted Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to win if we had bet on two Emmerdale residents who were going to become friends!
Since Ruby first came in the hamlet, the two ladies have been at odds with one another. Of course, that was to be expected—after all, whose path has she not yet crossed?
Charity had an odd turn of events the previous year when she went to bed with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), who is really her former brother-in-law and distant cousin.
Do you now have a clear understanding of that?
Additionally, he had a short affair with Tracy Robinson (Amy Walsh), his niece-in-law, which Ruby made public at Belle’s (Eden Taylor-Draper) and Tom King’s (James Chase) wedding.
How wonderful to keep it in the family!
Ruby then proceeded to seize her husband’s money, enlisting the aid of great soap opera actress Kim Tate (Claire King) to assist her con him.
When Kim realized she couldn’t trust her, they called off their plans, told Caleb what she was doing, and made the foolish decision to stay together.
Her conflict with Charity escalated last month during a heated exchange at The Woolpack, when she also clashed with Kerry Wyatt, the returnee played by Laura Norton.
“Hey, waitress!” She yelled at Kerry, who immediately responded with a sharp retort of her own: Have you heard anything? Something that had the sound of a cat being choked?
She said that Charity’s preferred weapon after stabbing her partner Mack Boyd (Lawrence Robb) during a night terror was a knife when she requested for one for her supper.
Awks.
“How’s your spouse doing?” enquired Charity.
It’s funny to think that when he was in my bed, Tracy’s, Laila’s, or Roxy Shahidi’s names were never spoken.
Ruby, unimpressed, dubbed them both “a pair of snidey bitches” and, in a less flattering remark, described Charity as unstable, inbred, and on the edge.
But on the show airing today, April 5, the two seemed to make apologies.
Only a few weeks after undergoing a double mastectomy, Ruby unintentionally elbowed Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) in the breast during an intense quarrel that broke out in the bar, resulting in the dramatic transformation of her character.
Charity went over to Ruby after seeing her sipping from a cup outside the café and inquired about her wellbeing.
She told her that Caleb was the only meaningful relationship she had ever had, and that her connection with him was in ruins as a result of her supporting his family.
Her spouse had an affair, yet she never wavered in her commitment.
Despite Ruby calling her one of the many “slappers” he’d gotten with over the years, Charity saw a kinder side to her and helped her to work through her relationship problems.
Tragically, as she was leaving for home, Caleb was preparing for a business trip to Birmingham and informed her that he wouldn’t be returning.
Will their happy ever after come to pass?
