Georgia Taylor is well known for being a legend from Coronation Street.

When the soap opera actress was barely 17 years old, she made her debut in 1997 as Toyah Battersby. She was a member of the ensemble for six years until departing in 2003 to pursue a lucrative career in television, having starred in shows including Casualty and Life on Mars.

After making a comeback to the cast in 2016, Georgia has been a constant ever since. She has contributed to many major plot points, including the one in which Imran Habeeb was murdered in a vehicle accident and the one in which her former sweetheart, Spider Nugent, reappeared in 2022. As crucial as ever to the soap opera, Toyah will battle with newcomer Rowan Cunliffe in next week’s episodes, according to teasers, because she believes his self-help group is being used as a weapon to control her sister Leanne.

Beyond the film, Georgia has a contented partnership with Charlie de Melo, the actor who portrayed her last on-screen lover, Imran. The 44-year-old spoke out about her feelings on his departure, saying she was devastated when his character was written out.

In 2022, she expressed her heartbreak to the press and our sister site, Mirror Online. I’m in love with him. He has really been a dream come true.

We have a lot of laughs because he is so amusing, but he is also one of the most encouraging persons I have ever worked with. As you can see, we are still in contact; he texts me to ask how my day was. Are you alright? Simply said, he is a team player. And just take a look at him—he seems to be complaint-free. He is stunning.”

Soon after Charlie’s departure, the two made it known that they were dating by posting photos from their February 2018 vacation to Scotland in honor of Georgia’s 43rd birthday. Georgia wrote, “Birthday weekend,” under photos she sent to her Instagram followers.

“An ancient volcano, a castle, many, many, many steps, deep-fried confectionery and a very fine mustachioed gentleman.” The couple, who often exchange life updates, had a great time traveling to Sorrento, Italy, in July of last year.

Stars of Corrie drooled when Charlie posted a collage of their vacation. The actress who portrays Abi Webster, Sally Carman, apologized for her characters’ little grins.

Georgia was seeing fellow actor Mark Letheren, well known for playing Simon Kitson in The Bill, before she started dating Charlie. Lorraine Kelly said that she and her partner first met on the set of Casualty in an earlier interview.

She stated: “We met, he was a semi-regular character, ironically portraying a councillor, which is ultimately what Toyah did.” Thirteen years ago, we first met. I got him fired from his job, made a lot of friends, and had a great time.”

Being a member of the Coronation Street cast has made Georgia happy than ever, and she has come to be associated with Toyah. The soap opera actress, who was born Claire Jackson but changed her name to Georgia when she became an actor, has said that she is used to being called by many names.

In 2021, she said to Mirror, “I had to come up with another plan since there appeared to be a lot of Claires at the time when I had to register with Equity, the actors’ union, when I began with Coronation Street.

“My grandpa had the last name Taylor, and he passed away not long before I got the part. Other than the fact that I liked it, I couldn’t tell you where I got Georgia from.” I didn’t fully consider the repercussions of choosing a different name when I was a youngster, but it has caused a lot of uncertainty over time. I’ll pretty much respond to anything at this point.”

“It’s kind of funny when I introduce myself to people,” she said. When someone recognizes me from Corrie, they think of me as Toyah. I respond, “You can really call me whatever you want; I’m Georgia, but I’m also Claire.”
