ITV Coronation Street star teases arrival of brand new character amid Lauren Bolton’s disappearance

DS Lisa Swain is working hard to find answers as the search for Lauren Bolton continues on the cobbles. But she’ll soon be reunited with her feisty teenage daughter.

Actress Vicky Myers reprised her role as DS Swain in recent Coronation Street scenes, but this time, the detective has brought her daughter with her to Weatherfield.

Lisa Swain was tasked with solving the mystery around Lauren Bolton’s disappearance as the wayward teen is thought to have been murdered by Roy Cropper – although Daniel Osbourne is also suspected of having a link with the case.

But during a chat with TV Times, Vicky (Ackley Bridge, Age Before Beauty, Unforgotten) revealed that her ITV alter ego will need to balance her busy work schedule and her hard-hitting investigation with her family life as her 16-year-old daughter is due to be introduced in the Manchester-based program.

Coronation Street viewers will be introduced to DS Swain’s feisty teen daughter in upcoming scenes

“We’re in the process of casting her 16-year-old daughter, and I think it’s fair to say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – she’s feisty, opinionated and educated”, she teased, adding: “It’s going to be interesting watching Swain juggling her professional and personal lives. Also, we know she’s gay, so is there another mother and, if so, is she involved?”

In a previous interview, Vicky mentioned that her character was a single mother to her teenage daughter – could there be conflict ahead as she co-parents her child?

The soap star also hinted that one Weatherfield woman may already have left DS Swain lovestruck, although she remains highly focused on bringing answers to Lauren’s loved ones, from Bobby Crawford to her mother Kerry, who showed up in Corrie during Wednesday’s instalment of the long-running show.

“I think she perhaps has seen somebody that’s caught her eye but at the moment she’s far too busy with focusing on this investigation and her career and being a single mum and juggling her home life as well with her teenage daughter”, Vicky said. How will it interfere with her investigation around Lauren?

As mentioned above, Lauren’s estranged mother Kerry rocked up the cobbles, hellbent on finding out what really happened to her daughter, while Roy Cropper is the prime suspect in her disappearance.

The beloved café owner portrayed by David Neilson was first suspected of foul play when Bobby Crawford caught him cleaning Lauren’s wrecked flat, therefore potentially wiping out any crucial evidence that could lead to a resolution. He is also known as the last person to have seen Lauren alive, as he had dropped off her final wages in person after sacking her.

Bobby will also be making a huge admission

Roy’s pals, Carla Connor and Evelyn Plummer, and his niece Nina Lucas have grown increasingly desperate to protect him as he also faces a plethora of trolling. And while she was thought to have been simply missing, traces of blood found in her abandoned flat have led authorities to believe Lauren could have been murdered.

But as Roy faces an intense court trial for a murder he most probably didn’t commit, Bobby (Jack Carroll) will be making a shocking revelation about the day Lauren disappeared, changing his statement to DS Swain. The lad is due to admit the intruder he spotted in Lauren’s flat was wearing a balaclava and a dark coat with a fur-trimmed hood – but will it play in Roy’s favour?

Meanwhile, Corrie fans are still scratching their heads as they try to figure who Lauren’s mysterious and persistent ex-boyfriend – another potential suspect in her harrowing disappearance – could be. Will they ever get to the truth?
