Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle knows true meaning of happiness for a split second – before his heart is utterly shattered

For a brief moment in Emmerdale, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) understood the real meaning of happiness as Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) formally acknowledged him as his father.

As fans are aware, four years ago, Nate entered Cain’s life. Feeling that he had been cheated out of a father, he tried to teach Cain a lesson by seducing his own stepmother, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb), into bed.

Remarkably, Cain found the fortitude to forgive the son he didn’t know he had, and the two went on to develop a semblance of a relationship.

However, it seemed as if the father-son team made a significant progress in this area on Friday, April 12, when Nate chose to address Cain as “dad” in front of him. For a little period, Cain felt warm and fuzzy and tried not to show it.

But soon, there was sorrow since a positive connection with his son Nate means a negative relationship with his brother Caleb Miligan (William Ash), who has been gone for a long time.

Fans will remember that last year, Caleb started an intense relationship with Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh), who was Nate’s wife at the time. When Nate and Cain learned of it, they were both furious and quickly distanced themselves from their brother.

But gradually, things warmed up between the two brothers; in fact, Cain even paid Caleb a visit in the hospital this week after his surgery.

Though Cain’s admission that they just cannot be in each other’s lives—he must support Nate—broke Caleb’s heart, despite his initial optimism that this was a positive indication for their relationship.

Nate, who is acting utterly hypocritically considering what he did when he first came to the hamlet, has made it very evident that if Cain accepts Caleb into his life, there would be no future for them together, which is why the mechanic severed their relationship.

Although Cain and his son Nate share a strong bond, they will never be able to get along with their estranged brother Caleb, whom he loves very much (Picture: ITV).

However, this proved to be even more difficult than Cain had anticipated. Later, the hard man was seen yearningly glancing at his brother, for whom he has a great deal of affection, despite the fact that he would never be able to be in his life.

Aw, Cain. I swear I’m not sobbing.

Monday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX is Emmerdale’s next episode.
