Devastating Roy Cropper twist as Coronation Street favourite is declared dead in new spoilers

Next week, Coronation Street will be full of sorrow as beloved Roy is left to die in his jail cell (Picture: ITV).

Next week, further spoilers for Coronation Street will shed light on the mystery surrounding Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) disappearance. They will also expose Roy Cropper’s (David Neilson) fall from grace.

The café owner is hurried to the hospital as things became too much for him to handle and he struggles mightily to put the little memories he has of the last times he saw Lauren together.

He is still committed to finding the truth, however, in the hopes of clearing his record and averting further risky situations while inside.

Speaking about abrupt declines in health, Jane Hazlegrove’s Bernie Winter reacts quickly and clumsily to inform Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) unresponsive father that his son has passed away.

But when Donny and Paul finally meet in person, Donny leaves Paul on his own after they have some time together.

Then, a violent coughing episode puts Paul in critical peril as he finds it difficult to breathe.

April 29th, Monday

Roy phones the café in the hopes of speaking with Nina. Shona gives Carla the phone, and Carla hangs up, claiming it was a sketchy queue and quickly leaves. Roy had another flashback of Lauren and Max approaching the café counter while he is incarcerated, but he is unable to decipher the significance of their discussion.

Roy becomes agitated and loses his train of thought as a jail guard knocks on the door. Bobby tells Carla at the workplace that he believes Roy should have gone clean about the fraudulent statement or the cops would have called by now.

When the jail guard opens Roy Cropper’s cell door after Nina tells him she is waiting for him in the visiting room, he discovers Roy lying on the ground.

Billy tells Paul he’ll ace the radio interview while helping him get ready for it. When a taxi comes to drive Paul and Bernie to the interview, it’s clear that Paul’s wheelchair won’t fit in the vehicle.

The driver treats Paul rudely and dismissively, which infuriates Paul. Paul rants passionately about his MND and society’s disregard for disabilities in general as Amy performs her radio interview with him, but he gets carried away and curses on the air.

An optimistic Steve tells Tim at the taxi office that he’s had three matches after signing up for the new dating site Abi suggested. After Steve shows Abi and Kevin a photo of Maggie, a possible date, at the café, Abi storms out in a fury while Kevin makes sexist comments.

Tim is informed by a jubilant Steve that Maggie has consented to have lunch with him at the Bistro.

Leanne informs Nick that she has a brilliant idea for the restaurant and that they could conduct pop-up booths to expand their market because of Rowan. Nick twitches at the thought of Rowan.

After disclosing Leanne’s intentions to grow the company, Nick approaches Toyah to ask if she may run the bistro in the meantime. Nick is saddened when Toyah declines.

When Alya phones the lawyers for a client file, she discovers Adam having trouble with the paperwork. Adam offers that they stop working together on Fabian’s project, but Dee-Dee calls him petty and tells him to get on with the filing.

Wed., May 1.

The MND crowdfunder has amazed Paul, Billy, and Gemma. They are certain that it will cause the council to take note of the potential closure of the facility.

Bernie is approached outside the café by a guy who tells her that he heard Paul on the radio and was unaware that his son was dying. Bernie calms her down by pointing her that Paul has already passed away and that the interview was taped.

Denny, on the other hand, follows her up to the apartment, where Gemma and Paul are taken aback to meet their father. Bernie froze in shock as Denny says, “Paul looks great for someone who’s supposedly dead.”

An anxious Steve is shocked to learn that Carole, his online date, has brought three pals along when they first meet in the Rovers. Tim is extended an invitation by Aurora to join them, and she won’t accept no.

How will Sally react when she phones from the bar and sees Tim laughing like a schoolboy with an inebriated woman?

Mary pays a lonely Roy a hospital visit. Mary tells Roy not to give up because he will eventually remember the facts of the discussion he overheard between Max and Lauren. Roy admits that he continues trying to recall the details because he feels convinced it’s important.

Amy volunteers to bring up the police’s plan to video a reconstruction of Lauren’s final known movements at the café when Nina discloses that they are doing so in order to raise awareness.

Arriving for their rendezvous with Adam are Rich and Alya. Adam is surprised to hear that Alya will be working in Dublin. Adam tries to impress Alya by giving them a synopsis of the case. Gary suggests selling the factory to get the money for Liam’s private treatment, which Maria and Gary consider. Liam listens with much distress.

On Friday, May 3,

Bernie vents to Dev about Denny, while privately fearing that Denny will divulge information about her background. Billy warns Paul that Denny is untrustworthy because of his past bullying behaviour, but he grudgingly accepts Denny’s invitation to attend a movie.

Paul is left alone in the apartment while Denny dashes out for ice cream. When he runs into Gemma, he begs to see his grandkids. Paul, alone himself in the apartment, can hardly breathe and suffers a coughing episode.

He dials 911, but he hangs up the phone as the operator answers. When Denny comes back, he is startled to see Paul barely awake.

It seems like Steve’s luck is finally improving (Picture: ITV).

Bernie is seen poring over old letters and pictures in a shoebox, while Dev is in the meanwhile. Bernie feels nervous as Dev wonders what she’s searching for.

Adam and Alya grin at one other, then avert their eyes while they concentrate on the joint case. Just before Rich phones the office to discover them in a clinch, Adam finally confesses his affections to Alya, and the two kiss.

a dejected Steve abruptly changes his mind after seeing a message from Demi, telling Amy he’s had enough of dating apps.

Steve tells Amy he thinks Demi is the one as he gets ready for their date. Steve and Demi get together in the Rovers and click right away.

Liam searches for benzodiazepines as anxiety remedies on Google. Liam is happy to have Joseph join him for the judo lesson.

When Roy contacts Dee-Dee from jail, he informs her about Lauren’s jewellery and how they may be able to track down her unidentified lover if they can figure out where it came from.

These scenes from Coronation Street will show on ITV1 and ITVX on Monday, April 29.
