The ‘addition’ of Roy Cropper’s jail cell, which seemed to ‘reveal’ the true perpetrator in the Lauren Bolton case, puzzled some Coronation Street watchers. The adored café owner is presently incarcerated after being accused with the teen’s murder, as viewers of the ITV soap opera are aware.

After weeks of strange behavior connected to a “mystery boyfriend,” Lauren vanished abruptly on February 23. Bobby, her new love interest, discovered her apartment unlocked and she was nowhere to be found. However, when blood was discovered in Lauren’s apartment, the missing person case quickly turned into a murder investigation.

And when it was out that Roy was the last person to see DS Lisa Swain alive, he was the one who was soon to become the main suspect. Then, in an attempt to support his friend Evelyn Plummer, who was subleasing the precinct flat, he foolishly deep-cleaned Lauren’s apartment.

Since then, Roy has been charged with Lauren’s murder. After an altercation with one of the several online sleuths who had been pursuing him over Lauren’s potential death, Roy was subsequently denied bail.

Since then, Bobby has provided false testimony to the police, claiming to have seen a guy leave Lauren’s apartment when he entered, even though it wasn’t Roy. This has caused Daniel Osbourne to be questioned further. Another instance of dog napping occurred in an attempt by internet trolls to coerce Roy into making a confession.

But happily, Asha Alahan’s efforts ensured that Freddie made it home safely after Wednesday night’s (April 24) journey to Weatherfield. In the same episode, Roy seemed to recall something from around the time Lauren vanished, but the audio was muffled and the image was hazy.

He realized there was a moment in the café between Lauren and her friend Max Turner as he struggled to recall what he had seen from his cell. Max was speaking to Lauren in the moment that seemed to be projected onto Roy’s cell wall, and she was answering him, but Roy was unable to figure it all out.

But when the screen focused on Lauren’s buddy Max, Roy made a look that seemed to indicate he had either figured out what it was about or, maybe more accurately, who it was about. Lauren seemed to be asking the other adolescent, “Is everything alright?” and she responded that everything was OK before they both grinned.

It remains to be seen whether this will play a major role in establishing Roy’s innocence, but Corrie fans took to social media to remark on the strange jail scenes.

“How’s Roy allowed a projector in his room #corrie?” inquired @BadSanta6996. @Beardybill1 inquired: “Is Roy seeing ghosts telling him that Max killed Lauren? #Corrie.”Why’s Roy got max in his memory #corrie?” was shared by @ElleLou22. “What the entire history of you is going on with Roy?” asked @AntMelia94. “#Corrie, why is he projecting all over his cell?”

However, not everyone liked it. @ifeelflames posted: “These visions of Roy are very strange.I’m not really sure what #Corrie they’re aiming for.” The comment from @Greg_Phillips_ said, “Weird special effects have no place in @itvcorrie #Corrie.”
