Coronation Street fans were left baffled earlier this week when they spotted a puzzling detail at Eileen Grimshaw’s house on the cobbles
Fans of Coronation Street have noticed a perplexing feature at Eileen Grimshaw’s cobblestone home.
Many of Weatherfield’s inhabitants, including Eileen, her son Todd, lodger Mary Taylor, partner George Shuttleworth, and, until recently, Sean Tully and his son Dylan, dwell at Eileen’s home, as soap opera aficionados will remember.
But after seeing a scenario on Monday night, viewers of soap operas were left completely perplexed, saying “absolutely not”. In the episode, George came into the kitchen to prepare a packed lunch for himself while Eileen was in there chatting with Glenda Shuttleworth.
The size of Eileen’s fridge was one of the details that left fans perplexed when the undertaker utilized the kitchen refrigerator to fetch his lunchtime snacks. As viewers shared their opinions on Twitter, now X, it seemed that the home only had a little compact fridge for the residents.
Someone said, “No.” Without a doubt, @itvcorrie. There is no way that the 4098 residents of Eileen’s home could survive on that little refrigerator by themselves! Another user commented, “That’s a small fridge #Corrie.” “That fridge at Eileen’s seems small for 4-7 people or whatever number lives there #Corrie,” another person said. A separate account made a joke, asking why Eileen’s fridge was given such a prominent place in the show today. #Corrie.
It comes as it has been confirmed that Eileen will be leaving the program for a while. Is actress Sue Cleaver permanently departing the ITV serial opera after 24 years of portraying the character? With Eileen leaving in forthcoming scenes, viewers will undoubtedly wonder why she isn’t shooting. Fortunately, we now have additional information about Eileen’s leave.
Scenes showed the woman packing up her belongings and heading out of Weatherfield, confirming her impending departure. After her son Jason Grimshaw broke his back in a motorbike accident, she leaves for Thailand.
But viewers don’t have to worry—Sue will eventually return to the role of Eileen, discussing her soap opera future. Sue revealed why she was taking a break from the soap opera and whether or not she will return.
The departure of the character seems to be connected to Sue, who has been paying Eileen since 2000, taking on a fascinating new position off-screen. It seems that Sue’s role in Sister Act: The Musical, which is now on tour in the UK, is the reason Eileen is being written out of the production.
Sue recently made an appearance on Lorraine, where she discussed the position and whether it meant she was leaving Corrie. When asked whether she will be returning to the soap opera soon, Sue said, “Yes, without a doubt. I’ll be returning there as soon as I’m done, giving me a few months to complete this task.”
