Watchers of Coronation Street witnessed Leanne Battersby discuss her background and trauma with newcomer Rowan Cunliffe.

It appears that Jane Danson’s character Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street may soon be in jeopardy. Viewers witnessed her go deeply into her past as she confided in Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper) on Friday’s episode of the ITV drama.

In the most recent episode, Leanne utilised his reality coding techniques and uploading tools to uncover her trauma as she grew more interested in his self-improvement institute. She was so emotional that she gave Rowan her whole heart.

Leanne didn’t hold back while discussing anything from her previous job as an escort to the passing of her little son Oliver. She acknowledged, sobbing, that she felt chastised and judged.

Leanne looked pleased with her development and admitted she felt lighter after confiding in Rowan about her innermost emotions, as he seemed to be encouraging her to talk more about her problems. She was unaware, though, that he had been filming her on his phone the entire time.

Soon after, viewers began to discuss Rowan on Twitter, with many thinking he was working on a dark scheme. “Leanne, Rowan was probably recording this and will blackmail you,” stated @pam_debeauvoir. This man is not worthy. Awaken!

“Pardon the pun, but red light alert [sic] Rowan is coming for your money with some blackmailing Leanne,” @suzicarrigan continued.

“Imagine if Rowan is related to Nathan Curtis in any way which links his return to Weatherfield?” asked @RyanTheSoapking in a remark.

“NOOO Leanne, DON’T f****ng tell him especially given they’ve literally just met,” inquired @griannedoherty. It’s obvious that he will eventually use it as leverage for blackmail, but the real question is: specifically for whom is he working? Harvey? Nathan? Turning him into a weapon against the Platts?

“Leanne will try to leave the cult and refuse to pay Rowan will blackmail her with the restaurant fire saying she’ll go down for arson,” @Blockbustargirl speculated.

“Oh dear, is that Rowan geezer going to blackmail Leanne or what?” was tweeted by @sparkysue.

Following their conversation with Rowan, supporters noticed how his actions were beginning to affect the relationships surrounding Leanne.

Leanne interrupted her sister Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) mid-sentence as she was talking about her day and how she had visited the park where she had buried her daughter.

She said to her sister that she can’t process her trauma, clearly hurting Toyah with her harsh comments.

Is Leanne putting herself in danger later on by stepping into Rowan’s trap?

In other news, after 24 years, audiences bid farewell to beloved character Sue Cleaver’s Eileen Grimshaw.

After breaking his back, fans watched Eileen depart Weatherfield to visit her son Jason Grimshaw (Ryan Thomas) overseas.

But actress Sue Cleave is taking a break from the serial opera to play the lead in the stage musical Sister Act, so her absence isn’t long-lasting.
