Corrie fans are convinced they’ve worked out Rowan Cunliffe’s real plan for Leanne Battersby after he was seen recording her in a recent episode.
After a recent plot twist, viewers of Coronation Street think they have discovered Rowan Cunliffe’s true intentions for Leanne Battersby.
On Friday’s episode, Rowan was seen pushing Leanne towards his self-improvement centre while hiding something from her. In her hour of need, he also succeeded in keeping her apart from her sister Toyah Battersby and husband Nick Tilsley.
Leanne was guided by Rowan to explore her past and face her trauma, and he used his techniques to help her express certain areas of her life. He advised her not to take on other people’s problems while also persuading her of his knowledge in this field.
Leanne came up about the death of her little son Oliver and spilled the beans about her background, including her time spent as an escort. She said she felt judged and that she was being punished for something she had done in the past.
While Rowan seemed to have all the appropriate consoling things to say, he also gave her the impression that his strategies worked to change her perspective. He said she could overcome her trauma and promote optimism by using his reality coding and uploading techniques, according to the Mirror.
She praised Rowan and said she would take more of his guidance when this strategy appeared to be effective. She even interrupted her sister Toyah as she was ready to discuss something with her later in the show, informing her that she didn’t want to hear it.
Prior to this, Rowan disclosed that he had been surreptitiously recording every conversation they had after waiting for Leanne to depart. After he halted the recording, his phone showed multiple more voice recordings, all tagged “Home.”
Oddly enough, he made all of these recordings the day before, and then he was spotted preserving a recording of his chat with Leanne. It remained unclear which of the other recordings belonged to Leanne or their conversations during the course of the week.
Approximately seven recordings seemed to indicate that Rowan had taped sessions with other individuals on the same day, if not more. What then is Rowan up to, and how will he handle Leanne’s statements?
Fans of Corrie conjectured that he wasn’t honest and was merely listening to her to demand money instead of offering her support. Viewers questioned whether he would turn the recorded information she gave him against her in the future.
On social media, fans have been speculating about the possibility of blackmail in the Rowan plot. “Perhaps Rowan will blackmail Leanne with the info she ‘uploads’ to him,” surmised one viewer. “Rowan: tell me all your secrets,” another added. Nobody is paying attention, but I could later use them as leverage against you.”
“I think Rowan gets people to tell them secrets about their lives and blackmails them,” remarked a third, while a fourth asked if the foolish Rowan would ever turn what Leanne is telling him against her.
Rowan’s actor, Emrhys Cooper, talked with The Mirror about the reasons behind his character’s actions and his choice to target Leanne. He disclosed: “He is able to identify those who are more vulnerable. He understands exactly which buttons to push, and he can tell that Leanne is packing a lot. It will be intriguing to observe his actions. [Fans] ought to monitor his future endeavours.”
Cooper continued, “It’s been brilliant for him, and he credits the organisation with totally turning his life around.” In reference to Rowan’s affiliation with the organisation. In his younger years, he was an exuberant young man who decided to turn around after getting into a fight and getting detained. He was saved by becoming a member of Autovalent.”
