Will and his ex-wife had an unhappy reunion this week.
Dean Andrews, a star of Emmerdale, spoke about Rose’s future.
For the first time since Rose abandoned their family when Dawn was a little girl, Dean’s character Will was reunited with her this past week.
In Friday’s episode, Dawn confronted her mother and rejected her, but fans haven’t seen the last of this newcomer.
When discussing this significant plot point with Digital Spy and other media, Dean Andrews gave an explanation of Will’s dissatisfaction with his old partner’s unexpected return to his life.
The actor said, “He doesn’t react greatly to it.” “I believe he is really irritated. She hasn’t shown her face in around twenty-five years, or even less. He is thus unhappy about it and finds it incomprehensible that she has appeared out of the blue.”
“I feel like I’ve had to create a kind of backstory that I was older than her, we got married pretty quickly, and we had Dawn,” hinted Dean after that. She recognised she was too young for such a relationship, ran away, and left the baby in my arms. He was in love with her, no doubt about it.”
In the next episodes, Rose will reveal to everyone about the money offer she received after a wild night at the Woolpack, making Will’s wife Kim’s effort to bribe her backfire.
“I don’t think at that moment there are any mixed feelings,” Dean said. “He thinks that she doesn’t deserve anything other than getting her bum on the next plane back to Benidorm because she doesn’t deserve any money or any niceness.”
Dean said that he is still unsure of Rose’s reasons for attempting to get in touch with her daughter.
“I’m not sure. Sincerely, I’m not sure,” he said. “I’m not the kind of performer that approaches a storyliner to ask questions like, ‘Can I see scripts? What’s the arc?’ and such. I really don’t know why she showed there or who she came to see—just what was on the page that day. I basically see things as they happen on site.”
Regarding Will’s relationship with Kim after her attempt at bribery, Dean said that strain in Will’s marriage could be building.
“It starts off that Will is just kinda going, ‘there’s nothing to worry about, she’s my ex wife and she’ll be gone soon, don’t worry about it’,” he said.
When the payoff finally arrives, the question is, “What the hell do you think you’re doing interfering with?” There are also a few instances in which Kim could tell Will that she’s making mistakes. At one point, she watches the kids, and I tell her, “Well, she did step up yesterday.” Will finds simple moments meaningful, but Kim finds value in them, and she begins to fear that she may lose me. Is she not composed of wood?
“We’re a lovely little gang, Claire, Olivia, and Jay,” he continued, addressing the shifting dynamics within the Taylor family. It is, of course, pleasant when another person steps in to provide additional drama or distinct dynamics and enliven the stage with their enthusiasm. With our little group, we have been working on sets together for three or four years, so we know, love, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s fantastic.
“However, since I initially collaborated with Christine [who portrays Rose] 21 years ago, she hasn’t really changed. Faith was the name of it. a movie on the Yorkshire miners’ strike. As I’ve followed her career, I know she’s a fantastic performer, and I also knew she’d fit in because, like all of us, she’s really grounded. She’s also totally fine. Thus, we eagerly anticipated her arrival, her infiltration of the little gang, and the addition of many new plot points.”
Rose shows in at the same time as Dawn and Billy get the devastating news that their little boy Evan has leukaemia.
“I think that [Dawn and Rose’s reconciliation] kind of transpires as time goes on,” Dean said. “Maybe more on Dawn’s overall statement. When Will suggests that she shouldn’t interact with this individual, she responds, “Maybe I should?” then Will begins to think about it. Perhaps she would like to learn more about her.”
Dean said that Will’s response to finding out that his grandchild had a potentially fatal condition is not good.
He explained: “It’s really difficult because I’ve got grandkids and then you start to relate, obviously actors relate it to your own and you see your daughter going through and your son-in-law going through, and just the heartache of… I’ve done a lot of charity work for that kind of thing and you start to see the kiddies and it’s heartbreaking.”
