On Friday night, after decades apart, Emmerdale fans saw the moment Dawn Taylor finally met her mother Rose.

When Dawn accidentally stumbled into her mother, who was really her estranged mother, in the hospital, she was stunned speechless. When her father Will Taylor revealed her mother’s name to her, she was stunned and made some hurtful remarks.

Reunited with his ex-wife on Thursday, Will had not seen her in decades since her breakup with young Dawn. Decades later, Will was shocked to see Rose again but also perplexed when he was summoned to the hospital as Rose’s next of kin.

Despite his best efforts, he was unable to keep Rose and this visit away from his daughter Dawn. Dawn and her boyfriend Billy Fletcher ended up in the same hospital where Rose had been admitted after a fall due to an incident with Evan, Dawn’s infant son. Rose was about to discharge herself when she made a remark about how cute Evan was as they were about to depart.

When Will entered unexpectedly and saw them both, he believed Rose had come to terms with her identity. He asked Dawn what she was playing at and gave Rose a warning to leave her alone, but neither Rose nor Dawn understood.

Neither Rose nor Dawn realised the lady in front of them was their estranged daughter until Will informed them that Dawn was speaking with her mother. Dawn was taken aback when he revealed their identities to each other.

She eventually confronted her mother, telling her that she “despised her” for what she had done to her and her father, and that she had wanted to talk to her about it all those years ago. Then she said that Rose didn’t need her anymore and that she hadn’t been there for her when she needed her.

Dawn drove off, saying she had no reason to remain, leaving Rose devastated. Will corrected Rose, saying that she had wasted whatever chance she had with Dawn when she abandoned her as a kid. Will Rose be able to make up for her lost opportunity with Dawn?
