According to a recent Coronation Street spoiler video, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) appears to have found the right woman after weeks of dating difficulties.
Even more, she detests Tommy Orpington, a former Weathy County player who is played by Matt Milburn!
Fans of the ITV soap opera will recall that Steve’s football idol had a passionate relationship with his wife Tracy (Kate Ford) after they hired him to paint and decorate their bedroom as part of his new career.
But before long, Tommy was dipping his paintbrush into her pot.
When Steve’s best friend Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) told him about the fling, he was distraught.
He was eager to get back into the dating scene after Tracy and her new beau went for greener pastures in Spain.
Steve tried his luck at a cocktail party at the Chariot Square Hotel and at Glenda Shuttleworth’s Rovers speed dating night, but he was unhappy that only his elderly father-in-law Ken Barlow (William Roache) was able to win over a woman.
But after a series of mismatched swipes, things appear to be getting better because a new woman is going to enter his life.
He meets Demi (Lisa Shingler) at the bar for a pint and is struck by her reading of the Weatherfield Gazette’s sports section.
As they get to talking about their shared passion for football, she discloses to Steve—who is shocked—that she has had season tickets for more than thirty years and that her mother used to work at the King’s Robes Arena, the team’s home field.
After they quickly become friends due to their shared passion for the game, she surprises Steve by telling him that Tommy O was her mother’s least favorite player to work with!
