One resident finds out about a heartbreaking betrayal later in the week after a concerning breakdown that necessitates a medical visit. When Maria Connor discovers that partner Gary Windass and his ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt are having an affair, she is devastated.
Not only that, but in the midst of his mental health struggle, her teenage son Liam Connor falls in unsettling moments. Recently, Liam had horrific experiences of bullying, to the point where he thought about ending his own life.
Liam has been out of school and obtaining mental health assistance in the aftermath, but his worry is getting to him. When friend Joseph Brown asks him whether things have improved after he returned to school the next week, Liam finds it difficult to breathe and goes for his inhaler. He is still in a horrible place.
Joseph is concerned about Liam and his panic episodes, and he begs Liam to communicate his feelings to his mother, Maria. In an attempt to calm her down, Liam declines, but he ultimately makes a grave error.
Liam searches the cabinets for candies, but he’s curious to discover Paul’s supply of Benzo tablets, so he puts several in his pocket. He takes some on the way home, and when he’s by himself, he passes out.
It appears he has been located and saved; he may have been brought to the hospital, as in the upcoming episode, Maria will have to tell a guilty Paul and Billy that Liam has been experiencing suicide thoughts. Liam consents to go to therapy sessions at the end of the week in order to deal with his anxieties, and Maria can’t help but worry for her son.
She’s been thinking about more lately, though, as a recent exchange between Gary and his ex-wife Sarah gets brought up again and seems to involve more. As Sarah downs the wine, Gary observes her with anxiety and quickly follows her home.
Although what occurs next is not revealed via spoilers, it appears that something has transpired. When Maria gets back to the flat the following day, Sarah and Gary are acting strangely.
Unnoticed by Gary and Sarah, she discreetly installs a camera on the side after picking up a few items. Sarah and Gary hug and decide to preserve their distance moving forward as Gary lets her go.
However, Maria’s countenance darkens as she watches them through the camera on her phone. Gary is so eager to make amends at the end of the week that it appears she confronts them about what she witnessed. Maria says that their relationship is finished, but will they manage to get back together?
