Coronation Street ‘confirms’ Joel’s role in Lauren’s murder – in a scene that aired three months ago

If there’s one thing we can be sure of about soap opera characters, it’s that most of them aren’t really kind and nice without a hidden agenda. We’re beginning to worry that Coronation Street residents Joel Deering (Calum Lill) would get along well with this regulation.

The attorney was originally introduced to us when he had to assist Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) after she destroyed Audrey’s (Sue Nicholls) salon in the previous year.

Subsequently, attention shifted to the growing bond between Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown). Although everything seemed to be going well for the pair, it later came to light that Joel had been keeping his girlfriend in the dark about his former partner and kid.

Really, just your average soap opera twist.

Joel has shown signs of anxiety in the last several weeks as he’s thought about seeing his little daughter. All of this is quite endearing and rather “normal” for a soap opera character, which is precisely why we believe he is concealing something.

Joel spent a grand total of £300 on cufflinks a few months ago. After seeing the receipt, Alya (Sair Khan) informed Joel that he has “expensive taste.”

Joel may very well like living the high life, but these moments from back in February have us wondering whether they hold any clues to Lauren’s disappearance.

This week, Lauren had another memory at the café for Roy Cropper (David Neilson). He paid close attention to the elegant jewellery she wore, which her enigmatic lover had given her.

Roy will shortly reveal to Dee-Dee that they may be able to identify Lauren’s lover if they discover where the piece of jewellery was purchased.

Is Joel this person, too?

Does Joel’s expenditure of hundreds of pounds on cufflinks make it more likely that he went to another jewellery store to buy Lauren’s necklace?

To support this hypothesis even further, we also know that some viewers of Coronation Street think Joel bought Lauren a bouquet of flowers, which also happen to look a lot like those he gave to Dee-Dee.

Oh, and how similar Joel looks to Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), who will be making a comeback soon?

Are they brothers?

We will ultimately reach a turning point in this plot as DS Swain (Vicky Myers) attempts to determine what really happened to Lauren Bolton, despite the persistent rumours and speculations.

In the near future, will we be discussing Joel Deering’s darker side?

Based on what we’ve discussed thus far, it is most definitely feasible.
