Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk have been going through a turbulent time in their marriage and it all comes to a head next week.
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and Rhona Ghoskirk (Dominic Brunt) will need to turn to their closest friend Paddy Kirk (Mark Charnock) for support as their marital issues worsen in Emmerdale.
In scenes that will show next week, Paddy encourages his friend Marlon to make peace with Rhona after a catastrophic dinner party the previous evening.
Later on, he proposes marital counseling; will she accept? Will it be able to salvage the marriage, or will it end permanently? ITV soap opera teasers indicate that Marlon and Rhona attend a heated dinner party with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) and her domineering husband Tom King (James Chase) in an upcoming episode prior to his intervention.
The discomfort is increased when they are joined by Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and a lust-filled Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley). Soon after, Tom’s toast to marital unity highlights even more weaknesses in Marlon and Rhona’s bond.
Later, Belle excused herself from the table, blaming her tears on the onions, although it’s clear that her violent husband is the reason for it. Soon, when Marlon and Rhona discuss their difficult personal lives in public, an argument breaks out between them.
When Rhona attempts to depart, a stubborn Marlon turns her down, making her seem to dissolve their marriage in front of everyone there.
“Given the circumstances, there should be no alcohol involved but Rhona and Marlon try to escape themselves by drinking their way through this dinner party,” Marlon actor Mark stated, addressing the gathering.
“The more alcohol they have the more free they get with what they’re saying with each other and the less subtle their mutual resentment becomes until the point where it just explodes.”
He said, “It’s like seeing what Marlon and Rhona had before this got stirred up,” when asked how the presence of the other apparently happy couples fuels the flame between them.
“They see Vanessa and Suzy’s pleasure as well as Mandy and Paddy’s utter euphoric delight.
“It escalates their situation very quickly seeing everything that they’re presently not.”
When Rhona chose to side with her ex-husband Gus Malcom in his legal battle, much to Marlon’s dismay, tensions between the two started to surface.
