Coronation Street spoilers: Devastating news as much-loved character is diagnosed with pneumonia before death

Another upsetting twist (Picture: ITV)

In Coronation Street’s episode from Friday, May 3, Peter Ash’s character, Paul Foreman, went back to the hospital and was given yet another heartbreaking prognosis.

Paul and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) finally met their father Denny on Wednesday after a long absence.

Denny stated that he was in Weatherfield to see Paul, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, before he passes away.

Following that, the father and son headed to the pub to spend the afternoon catching up.

Then it became clear that Denny wasn’t considering the fact that Paul shouldn’t be drinking so much alcohol given his condition. He showered him with alcohol, which caused Paul to drop a glass on the ground.

Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) found Paul to be genuinely inebriated when they got back to the flat.

Bernie and Billy hurried to aid and sent Denny away as Paul began to vomit.

at the ITV soap opera episode airing tonight, Paul made the decision to watch a movie at the flat with Denny more often.

Denny was on his way to acquire ice cream when he became sidetracked and wanted to meet his grandchildren, not realising that Paul was by himself.

After that, the adored character had a coughing attack and lost consciousness to some extent.

Soon after Denny finally came back, Paul and Billy departed the cobbles in an ambulance.

When Paul’s family (including a hesitant Denny) arrived at the hospital, Billy informed them that Paul had aspiration pneumonia, a condition that occurs when liquids or vomit become lodged in the lungs or airways rather than being swallowed or thrown up.

As the episode came to a close, Denny was seen leaving the hospital and talking on the phone about how much money he would make from the sale of an electric wheelchair.

Does this imply that Denny’s true intentions are now known?

Is he going to put his son through even more hardships?
