Recently, Tony Maudsley’s character George Shuttleworth in Coronation Street had a shock when he learned that his father, Roy Hudd’s character Archie Shuttleworth, had bequeathed the undertakers’ firm to him and his sister Glenda (Jodie Prenger), rather than to him alone.
Despite his decision to keep the facts private, he has been feeling bad for lying to his sister.
“He’s caught between not wanting to give his sister too little and not wanting to give her half of a business that, if she gets her hands on it, she’s going to sink into the ground in five seconds!” We heard from Tony Maudsley.

Glenda is irritated by his seeming lack of support, and when she complains to Todd, he misinterprets her and believes she is aware of Archie’s intentions. He then divulges enough details to raise Glenda’s suspicions. And she becomes furious upon discovering the truth.
She makes the decision to seek legal counsel and visits Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson), who seems unenthusiastic. He claims that it would be very expensive and there is no assurance that she would succeed if she sued her brother for half the company. Will she choose to go forward nevertheless, though?
“There will be some competition there,” Tony Maudsley said.
She is in a situation where her finances are limited. Over at the bar, she is renting a small room from Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews). Glenda is content, although her life isn’t really spectacular. It could be more ideal. And there may not be a way out if she has these pound signs in her eyes!
