Nicky Milligan has been left fighting for his life following a car crash and Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope has dropped a major clue at the his character’s future in the village
After an extremely serious automobile accident, Nicky Milligan of Emmerdale is now battling for his life.
In the one-hour episode that aired on Thursday, May 9, Nicky (Lewis Cope) was taken to the hospital after his horrified aunt Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) discovered him unresponsive.
As their kid was taken for surgery, his parents, Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) and Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly), were left inconsolable. Without the Nicky’s family knowing, Ethan Anderson (Emile John), who had been drinking, was driving at the time of the collision and made it out of the debris unharmed.
After dragging Nicky from the car, Ethan left him at the scene of the collision. When passersby Moira saw that Nicky was hurt, Ethan fled in the hopes that no one would see him at the crime scene. Lewis Cope spoke with host Lorraine Kelly on ITV’s Lorraine ahead of the dramatic episode, discussing his captivating new plot.
“Well look, we don’t want to give anything away because Emmerdale is obviously on tonight at 7:30pm,” she stated in their online conversation.We know that the automobile collision would be severe, so I simply hope you’re going to be with us.” The actor cheekily shot back, “Maybe I’m dead?” In answer, Lorraine screamed, “No, don’t say that! Say nothing, say nothing at all!”
Lewis, taking pleasure in the theatrical interaction, continued to tease the audience by saying, “We’ll find out!” The interview came to a close when Lorraine said, “Now we have to, well we’ll all be watching anyway, so lovely to see you!”
According to Emmerdale spoilers for the upcoming episode, Nicky is fighting for his life as his parents, Ruby and Caleb, are kept under close observation at the hospital. Ahead of starting his new work, Ethan’s family shows him a lot of love and support, but they are unaware of his involvement in the disaster, so he is filled with guilt.
But Ethan’s father, Vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin), quickly senses his son’s discomfort and pulls him away for a serious conversation in the church. When Ethan admits that he was driving when Nicky was involved in an accident, Charles is astonished. He is even more shocked when Ethan tells the police he was lying and requests an alibi.
At the hospital, Ruby confides in Moira on Nicky’s health, and the two ladies get along after their previous argument. Ruby and Caleb promise to find out who was driving in order to exact revenge for Nicky’s accident. Nicky is devastated to discover that his own father has betrayed him by reporting him to the police, and later in the week, there’s a dramatic turn of events when Ethan is jailed for causing Nicky’s accident.
Ruby, who is enraged, fits together the events when she sees Ethan arrested and concludes that he must have been the driver of Nicky’s vehicle. Charles starts to second-guess his choice after Ethan’s imprisonment, seeing the destruction of his family as his son is taken away. What comes next? Will Nicky survive this, and may these be Ethan’s last moments?
