Emmerdale spoilers: Charles seals devastated Ethan’s fate in hit and run ordeal

In Emmerdale, Ethan Anderson’s (Emile John) choice to drive after drinking will have far-reaching consequences for him. When Ethan does what any son would do and goes to his dad for assistance, it backfires dramatically, leaving Nicky Milligan (Lewis Cope) in a poor state in the hospital.

After the collision, Ethan fled, leaving Moira (Natalie J Robb) in charge of finding Nicky and sounding the alarm.

With Caleb (Will Ash) and Ruby (Beth Cordlingly) in a state of tension and keeping watch at Nicky’s bedside, the character is currently in the hospital, barely hanging on to life. As everything is going on, Ethan is completely ruined by his unaware family complimenting him on his new career.

His remorse mounts as Ruby swears to exact revenge on the person who placed Nicky in the hospital bed. After seeing that something is wrong, Charles (Kevin Mathurin) brings Ethan to the chapel, where he comes clean.

Not what Charles was expecting to hear at all, but there’s more shocking news to come: Ethan begs Charles to serve as his alibi.

The proposal enthrals Charles, particularly since he believes that the dog collar comes first. Unknown to Ethan, Charles makes the grave mistake of admitting Ethan’s crime to the authorities on his behalf.

Kevin Mathurin gave Metro.co.uk the following explanation on Charles’ suffering over his choice:

Charles the man and father and Charles the vicar are always at odds with one another. Obviously, he wants to do the right thing for his son, but doing the right thing requires accepting responsibility for your actions and dealing with the fallout.

After learning that his own father had turned on him, Ethan is shocked to discover he is being arrested shortly after.

Even worse, Ruby sees his arrest and understands what that entails. Charles has sealed his only son’s destiny in more ways than one; Ruby will make sure she gets him whether or not the cops throw the book at him.

What currently awaits Ethan?

Kevin implies that the hamlet would “turn against” them both and suggests that Ethan will have to deal with some serious repercussions: That is the hand he has been dealt. He was aware that he had been drinking, and since the accident occurred, he must deal with the repercussions.
