Alex, who is 22 years old, is the fourth actor to play the part.

Alex joined the programme when he was seven years old, and The Sun exclusively reported in December that he would be departing.

Among the narratives that Simon’s character has experienced thus far are being coerced into entering the drug trade after being duped into accruing debt.

More recently, after smashing Leanne’s car while taking Nick’s son Sam (Jude Riordan) to a chess competition, he was expelled by Nick (Ben Price).

Simon later admitted to being above the legal drinking and driving limit to his adoptive mother Leanne (Jane Danson).

Sam needed to be sent to the hospital right away for medical attention.

Even though Simon’s tenure on the ITV soap opera is almost to a conclusion, there will be a lot of drama before he leaves.

This week’s scenes have Leanne leaving on a retreat, which Toyah (Georgia Taylor) begs her not to go on.

Simon is upset to discover that Leanne left without saying goodbye as she won’t reconsider.

After skipping work, Simon gets wasted, pukes in Tim’s (Joe Duttine) taxi, and then makes off with the money.

Simon’s problems stemming from binge drinking have not occurred for the past few months.

Leanne and Nick discovered the irresponsible young man taking drinks from the Bistro back in February.

After that, he headed to the Rovers, where he grew more inebriated throughout the day.

Simon attempted to get more alcohol from behind the bar and passed out in a booth by the time he was disconnected.

Later, when Leanne attempted to assist him, Simon lost it and broke a pint glass.

Simon is about to leave the show after his father Peter (Chris Gascoyne) left on Boxing Day.

But as Peter left, Simon was nowhere to be seen, so the two were never able to say farewell to one another.

Will Simon and his father eventually be reunited, or will his closing moments take a very different turn?
