Georgia May Foote, a former Coronation Street star, talked candidly about her vitiligo and stated that it breaks her heart for people to “stare” at her.

Favourite Georgia May Foote of Coronation Street and Strictly Come Dancing has spoken out about the difficulties she has with her medical condition and shared what it’s like to be “stared at.” The actress, well-known for her part in The Cobbles, suffers from Vitiligo, a condition where the skin lacks pigment and develops white spots.

“If I didn’t admit that it bothers me, I would be lying. I become so insecure about it sometimes. However, it fills my heart to know how those close to me stand by me and still love me unconditionally.” She continued: “I’ve noticed people staring, having a good old nosey with their faces screwed up, and that’s when my heart drops.”

Georgia continued her impassioned call for compassion with these words: “So let me just say this is a friendly reminder to those people to be kind.” The way it makes you feel, I’m sure, is nothing compared to how the owner feels.”

Even though she herself faces everyday challenges with her self-perception, the celebrity stated her delight in becoming a voice of advocacy for people who suffer with Vitiligo. “I’m honoured to speak for those who have the same issue as myself. Every day, I struggle with my feelings about it. It’s one of those days where I realise there’s nothing I can do. And so, here we are. Please show it out in all its beauty (I’m wearing lipstick, but my entire colour has now moved in and around my lips). Let’s exercise kindness.”

The actress fearlessly talked about her battle with Vitiligo, a disorder that results in the appearance of light white spots on the skin, in June 2022. She posted pictures and detailed the effects of the illness on Instagram to share her story.

“As you can see, my skin’s pigment has vanished,” she stated. Though there are a few things they believe are to blame, the exact source of this is yet unknown. The most depressing aspect? There isn’t a treatment.

Georgia also answered questions from her fans, one of which concerned the condition’s visibility in the heat. “Definitely more noticeable when I’m tanned,” she said. “When my skin is much lighter, I can see patches that I usually can’t.” There is no melanin in the white region. Thus, it won’t even tan. causing the surrounding skin to turn a lovely shade of brown, which highlights the white.”
