What specific link exists between Paula Lane’s Ella Forster and Paige Sandhu’s Meena Jutla, the most infamous serial murderer in Emmerdale?
During her reign of terror, Meena murdered Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger), the daughter of Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), by shoving her down a bridge. She also claimed the lives of Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon) and Andrea Tate (Anna Nightingale).
When Ella questioned the couple about the event, she was particularly curious to learn that she had also held Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) and Billy (Jay Kontzle) at gunpoint on the day of their wedding.
Supporters also saw Ella making a mention to a friend of hers who worked as a nurse, similar to Meena, during her conversation with Liam.
She hasn’t really spoken about her background, her family, or friends, so whatever she does say about them is noteworthy—aside from this and the sporadic mention of an uncle.
The episode that aired on Tuesday, May 14, appeared to validate the rumours that Ella and Meena are connected in some way, as well as the events that befell Leanna.
After a great date at the scrapyard, Ella had spent the night with Liam at Tenant’s. When she walked downstairs, Liam had left to buy croissants, and she discovered a message.
At this time, Ella seemed content and at ease, but as she glanced about the space, she saw a framed picture of Leanna. She took it up and took a seat on a chair to examine it.
Liam returned, interrupting her as she went to have breakfast, setting the picture down on the coffee table. Although Liam was clearly thrilled with their relationship, he continued to apologise in his uncomfortable manner in case he was being too much.
Ella advised him to go with the flow, but she kept looking back at the picture of Leanna as he was speaking.
Liam then began to speak about his daughter, describing Ella as “refreshing” in her spontaneity. Particularly after… Leanna. She made him feel more at peace and like himself than he could have ever imagined, he said.
“I won’t be the same ever again, not after Meena took Leanna away from me,” he said. Ella then altered her look, stated she had to get things done, and hurried out, leaving Liam perplexed as to what had transpired.
Though Ella had seemed unfazed by Leanna’s words, was it Meena’s name that caused her to respond oddly?
Later on, Liam saw Ella sipping wine in the Woolpack.
She expressed regret for her previous actions and said that it was difficult for her to open up since she had never been so close to someone. They decided to approach their union “one step at a time.”
Before then, Ella had been spotted sitting in the shelter by Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley), who asked her what was wrong. Ella said that she had felt “awkward” when Liam revealed the truth about Leanna.
It was evident to Mandy that Liam trusted her and wasn’t troublesome. “You two have baggage, what’s the big deal?” she said.
Naturally, however, we still don’t fully understand Ella’s background or her actual goals.
