Real life of Coronation Street’s Daniel Osbourne actor Rob Mallard – co-star ex, new love and ‘degenerative’ health condition

In addition to being questioned about the disappearance and possible murder of Lauren Bolton, Daniel Osbourne is having a difficult time in Weatherfield since he is being accused of assaulting Nathan Curtis, the guy who helped his girlfriend Bethany Platt grow up.

Coronation Street’s latest tosses and turns occur months after Bethany’s comeback in his life after his breakup with fiancée Daisy Midgeley. After learning about Ryan Connor’s and Daisy’s affair, he called off his engagement.

Although Rob Mallard, an actor, was the third person to play Daniel on the renowned cobbles, he wasn’t the first to feature in a soap opera. Daniel is the son of street veteran Ken Barlow and the uncle of serial love rat Adam Barlow. He debuted in the role back in 2016.

It was shot when Rob was starring in Emmerdale as Connor Jenson. In September 2015, he made his appearance as Connor in the Dales. When he posted a photo from his stint on another soap opera, it puzzled people. He sent the bloody, black-and-white selfie to his thousands of followers in an unusual post.

His long hair seemed to be bouncing in an edgier, Elvis-inspired manner as he wore a leather jacket, yet his face appeared to be somewhat beaten and injured, with cuts around his lips and nose. When Rober Sugden hired the rent boy to entice his father-in-law Lawrence White to bed, that’s when he came.

In an effort to do this, he painted false wounds on his face and persuaded Lawrence to accompany him home so he could get assistance. However, Connor became vicious and beat up Lawrence after making a play on Robert’s father-in-law, who was now alienated from him. He then stole Lawrence’s possessions and left the hamlet.

The next year, Rob became Daniel on Corrie and even had an appearance in Jack Whitehall’s Fresh Meat, a comedy on Channel 4.

Regarding Rob’s off-screen relationships, he first came out as homosexual in a 2017 interview with homosexual Times, although he revealed his sexual orientation to his family when he was only 17 years old and “never planned to keep [his sexuality] quiet.”

Rob started dating co-star Daniel Brocklebank, who portrays vicar Billy Mayhew, shortly after he joined Corrie. Their relationship was validated when Rob won the British Soap Award. “Even though this is fantastic, Dan, you’re the best thing I’ve ever taken home,” he remarked in his acceptance speech.

However, the couple called it quits after only two months, with insiders attributing their breakup to the strain of juggling a love relationship with a joint career. Rob later dated Ben Perryman, but the two broke up in 2019. Rob confirmed in January 2020 that the relationship had come to a “natural end,” and it is thought that he was unmarried during the nation’s lockdown.

The soap opera star has recently seemed to find love once again, however. The actor seemed to go public with his new girlfriend back in June 2023 when he posted a picture of himself on Instagram looking dapper at the British Soap Awards. Wearing a three-piece blue suit, he looked great at the star-studded event. But, he gave his ensemble a cool touch by wearing dark shades as he stood outside with his equally stylish companion.

He attended the annual event, which saw Corrie win big on the night with six silver gongs making the short trek from The Lowry theatre to the soap’s studio in Salford. “British soap awards 2023 with @mattmarcm,” he wrote below the photo with a red heart.

At the time, Rob’s co-star Charlotte Jordan, who portrays Daisy, was one of the people who replied to the post. As she wrote, she didn’t even try to be neat: “You sexy b*****ds.” Even though they haven’t disclosed their romance, the two have been photographed together once again, including taking pleasure in theatrical outings.

In an effort to increase awareness, Rob, 31, has also lately spoken about his “degenerative” medical condition in other contexts. The soap opera actor first disclosed his essential tremor a few years ago. An essential tremor is a neurological condition of the nervous system that produces involuntary, rhythmic shaking of the body, primarily in the hands.

“I was diagnosed with an essential tremor when I was 14 years old, but I didn’t quite realise how serious it was until I was in my mid-20s,” the man has previously said of the disease. Rob said, “You assume that shaking is something that only older people do, and most older people do have a slight tremor.” “But it’s actually amazingly common in young people and it’s often misdiagnosed as anxiety disorders or people on the street might think something bad.”

After appearing on This Morning a few years ago, Rob—who is now a supporter of the National Tremor Foundation for young people—only disclosed his essential tremor to the world. “I went onto TV to talk about Coronation Street and got a massive rush of adrenaline from the live TV aspect of it and just started shaking,” he said in a recent interview with Morning Live.

“When I watched it again, all you could see was the hair trembling. At the time, I also had longer hair and a quiff. Soon after I stopped posting, there were rumours on social media that I was intoxicated, that I was withdrawing from something, or that I was having problems.

Then, I found myself in a situation where I had been keeping this a secret because I believed it would prevent me from working; but, because I haven’t been honest about it, the assumptions have become worse, so I’ve had to make a decision. I returned and disclosed what it was. It’s an important issue, more frequent than you would think, and people tend to believe it affects just the elderly. I’ve found that being open about it has been the best course of action.”
