The loss of her son Seb came crashing down on Abi Webster following news about his murderer, Corey Brent
As the news of Seb Franklin’s killer, Corey Brent, broke, Coronation Street viewers said that they’still can’t believe’ the actor’s passing. Abi Webster was left devastated.
Three years have passed since fans of the ITV soap opera last saw Corey, who was portrayed by Maximus Evans. He was soon implicated in a horrifying hate crime incident that left Seb, Nina Lucas’s lover, dead.
The builder was kicked until he was lifeless on the ground by the young football player, who eventually died from his wounds, as was then disclosed in flashback sequences last month. But it took some time for the truth to come to light since the stress caused Nina to lose her memory, and Corey avoided taking any of the blame when Kelly Neelan was found guilty of Seb’s killing in the first trial.
Even though Corey was ultimately imprisoned in 2021, Abi was taken aback when, on Monday night, May 20, she turned on the radio and heard the host praising Corey and his football skills. When Abi’s husband Kevin was forced to admit that Corey was playing for a jail squad and was featured in a new documentary, she was appalled.
After seeing the video and being angry with Kevin for withholding the information from her, Abi was ecstatic to see how Corey was portrayed as a hero. She then told Nina, and the two of them proceeded to the TV company’s headquarters where they forced their way into the producer’s office and demanded answers.
Abi and Nina made their way back to the cobblestones, and Abi was approached by policeman Craig Tinker at the garage to talk about a complaint that had been made against her. As he vowed to take her to the police if she didn’t stop becoming angry. However, later on, when Suki Waters, a journalist for the Gazette, got involved and offered her an interview, she was encouraged.
To try to talk people out of seeing the documentary, Abi requested if they could instead record her and upload an uncut version online. In the poignant moments, Abi spoke about what a wonderful young man Seb had been before his life was taken from him. She said that the guy who was praising him in jail had stomped him to death.
After the scenes, viewers of Corrie were moved by the memory of Seb’s passing and said that Abi was “back” as she had resolved the situation on her own after a quiet time without any drama.
“I still can’t believe Seb died in that,” remarked @nixybobs. As if I completely missed the warning signs. Anyone who is similar to Nina in any manner will find that the plot is still relatable. Excellent plot. Even if it’s fictional, Corey shouldn’t be on television at all.” @tracyd1805 stated: “This scenario is very moving. As good acting as ever.”
@timrichardjones tweeted: “Wow loved it & so true & really feel sorry for Abi plus glad she didn’t want it editing so they could change it.” Added by @RyanTheSoapking: “Well done, Abi! Sally Carman had several strong performances tonight. I’m so happy Abi is back and receiving the material she is due. One of the finest characters on #Corrie, in my view.”
