Emmerdale spoilers: Dawn gets devastating news about Evan in frightening development

Dawn speaks to Billy in the hospital in Emmerdale
Another heartbreaking development (Picture: ITV)

Evan’s prospects of growing up normally in Emmerdale are something that Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) is acutely aware of.

She’s already burned out and has emotionally cut herself apart from her spouse Billy (Jay Kontzle). She doesn’t need any more bad news to pile on top of everything else.

Unfortunately, when she finds out what her biological mother Rose (Christine Tremarco) is up to, there will be a lot more of that. But first, there’s grave news about Evan, as his health rapidly deteriorates.

Dawn finds out that infant Evan has a fever after receiving chemotherapy, which might indicate a potentially fatal illness. Desperate to find out whether the germs may have originated from the kids, Dawn jumps on Billy as soon as he gets to the hospital, knowing that she is on a razor edge.

After Dawn’s charges, Billy is also in a horrible place.

This starts a chain of events that will also leave their other two children, Clemmie and Lucas, in pieces.

They find out they have to essentially live in a bubble and are not allowed to return to school for fear of endangering Evan. Billy, who shares Dawn’s fragility, loses it all on Will (Dean Andrews) when he realises how difficult it is to protect Evan while still trying to be a decent father to all of his children.

The relationship between Rose and Ruby is now known (Picture: ITV)

When agitated Dawn wants someone to speak to, Rose—who has come clean to the audience—sees an excellent chance. Ruby is played by Beth Cordingly. She finds Dawn on her own and gives her what she needs—a listening ear and some brandy.

However, Will seizes Rose’s moments before catastrophe, giving recovering junkie Dawn powerful sleeping pills, just as the arrogant Rose is getting intimate. This really throws Rose’s plans off.

Rose gets a hard time from Kim (Claire King) and Will for taking advantage of Dawn’s weakness, which makes her retreat to Ruby and warn that their strategy is failing.

However, she receives a clear directive to return there and resume work in order to restore order.

When gentle Dawn finds out the truth about her mother’s entrance in the community, how will she handle it?
