The star of General Hospital, Sofia Mattsson, posted a heartfelt remembrance of the late Johnny Wactor, calling him the “absolute best.”

The 37-year-old television personality, who starred in almost 200 episodes of the US series, was shot and murdered early on Saturday morning (May 25) in downtown Los Angeles.

The devastating news was verified to TMZ by his mother, Scarlett.

Three males attempted to take Wactor’s catalytic converter while he was with a coworker, according to her.

Along with a photo of the two of them together on the show, Sofia posted an homage to her late co-star on Instagram.

“My heart is completely shattered… There was nothing like Johnny. So sincere. Such compassion. Extremely diligent and modest,’ she wrote.

With an enormous heart that brought so much happiness and goodwill. He always ensured that anyone in his vicinity felt valued, heard, and seen. I am a better person for having knowing him, and I much appreciate the guy he was.

We had a lot of wonderful times together, both on and off film, and I will always hold those memories in the highest regard, the actress said. Johnny, you will be sorely missed. You must already be rather busy tending to everyone up there.

Fans went to X to share their sorrow and grief after word of Wactor’s passing spread.

Peacefully rest, Johnny. What a horrible thing. With prayers to his family, bellainamorata6 wrote.

“May he find peace now.” When my mother reads this, I know she will be upset. Taecmetohell said, “She still watches GH.”

This is just tragically unnecessary. StuckNPortChuck said, “Love and light to his family and the cast and crew who are bearing yet another loss.”

Wactor is, in fact, among the performers from General Hospital who have passed away recently.

Additional casualties were the 92-year-old actress Beth Peters, who portrayed Mrs. Whitaker, and the 64-year-old actress Robyn Bernard, who portrayed Terry Brock.
