It’s not because the Mediterranean has finally arrived on the Cobbles that Beth Tinker is feeling the heat this time.
The factory worker has been keeping a big secret from everyone around her, including her employer Carla Connor (Alison King), and things are about to get awkward when she runs the danger of getting discovered by the authorities.
Actress Lisa George, 51, revealed last month that she was leaving Coronation Street, and since then, a dramatic narrative has been developing leading up to Beth’s departure.
Fans will be aware that Beth has a profitable side business at Underworld where she produces fake T-shirts.
However, over time, she has gotten closer and closer to spilling the beans and entangling others in her mess.
Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), a rookie employee, had already intimidated her and forced her to give her cash packets in order to purchase her quiet.
In order to hide cash from the first consignments, Beth also enlisted the help of her son Craig, a police policeman.
However, the drama never stops because when a box with the phony products gets confused with an actual delivery, she nearly passes out.
Fortunately for her, she finds the box of fakes and takes it to her dubious acquaintance Sid in the well-worn Corrie ginnel.
However, she is ultimately brought down by that little alleyway. Craig and his colleague Kit arrive as she is giving the money to her, inquiring as to why she is hanging out with such a sketchy individual.
She deftly dodges their questions without divulging that she intends to make her side project her main source of income.
However, Beth finds herself in a worse situation than before when she leaves her work and Sid retracts his offer.
Beth can only ask Carla to give her back her previous work, but will her former employer really consider hiring her again?
The preparations for Beth’s swan song from the cobbles were leaked by a source following the announcement of Lisa’s departure.
“Beth is a larger-than-life character who has never shied away from a confrontation,” they stated.
“It will be as dramatic as she is when she leaves.”
