Lauren Bolton gave birth to her son in the ITV soap after being drugged by Joel Deering
Fans of Coronation Street believe there will be a twist in the DNA, but not for the new Weatherfield baby. As fans of the ITV soap opera are aware, Lauren Bolton gave birth to her baby following Joel Deering’s drugging of her.
Just a few months have passed since Corrie viewers witnessed Joel’s real nature when it became apparent that he was the reason for the kid’s abrupt disappearance from the street. A flashback footage from the episode showed Joel viciously assaulting the teen with a chair leg before abandoning her for dead.
Lauren was discovered to be alive last month when she went back to the cobbles to see Roy Cropper, who had been convicted of her murder and then released from jail before being found not guilty. Joel harassed her while she was there, revealing the truth about their past interactions.
Following another terrified—and pregnant—runaway from Joel, Lauren was finally discovered by Bethany Platt and Joel’s fiancée, Dee-Dee Bailey. After being admitted to the hospital, Lauren soon came to the attention of DS Lisa Swain.
Joel moved in with Dee-Dee ahead of their September wedding, and ever since he left the hospital, he has been harboring Lauren covertly at his former apartment. But viewers were shocked to see that Joel’s supposed preparations to get Lauren to Ireland turned out to be a ruse; instead, he purchased pills and surreptitiously mixed them into some soup, causing Lauren to go into labor early.
He had locked her in the apartment, leaving Lauren alone and alone until buddy Max Turner arrived to save her. Lauren was then transported to the hospital, where she gave birth to a son, age six months, at the hospital.
A distressed Lauren watched her newborn son lie in an incubator on Monday evenings (August 5) on Corrie, hoping that he would recover. Max and Bobby Crawford stood by her side, but as soon as they left, Joel showed there and introduced her to his newborn kid.
He wasted little time in revealing the solicitor’s true nature by tricking Lauren into removing an email she had written to Swain. He got her a new phone and tried to reason with her, which seemed to work when she allowed them to visit their kid before calling to inform him that the email had been removed.
When Lauren announced that she had chosen to name her kid Francis as an homage to her grandpa, things became emotional. Joel then disclosed that his own grandfather had the same name, which caused him to cry until Dee-Dee appeared.
However, Corrie fans have wondered if a major shock may be in store with the release of the character’s identity. “Why was Joel so upset when he found out the baby’s name?” inquired @cazdenham. He claimed the same name as his grandfather! Perhaps he realized that Lauren is his cousin and that they share the same grandfather.”
“I was not expecting Lauren and Joel to have the same grandfather!” said @soapsfan_x.
