Jay Slater funeral guests from last mate to see him, Corrie star and pal Lucy Mae

Following the terrible and unexplained death of the 19-year-old in Tenerife, these people attended Jay Slater’s burial, ranging from grieving friends to close family.

Today is the last day that Jay Slater, 19, will be said farewell by his friends and family.

On Saturday morning, a service will be performed in Accrington Cemetery Chapel in honour of the young man. In honour of the late bricklayer, attendees are asked to wear blue to the event, which the organisers have labelled “a celebration of his Jay’s life.”

The teenager was discovered dead on July 15 after going missing on the island of Tenerife in June amid a flurry of irrational rumours. Jay experienced a severe fall that resulted in brain trauma, according to a post-mortem.

Sadly, callous con artists have gone after the British public, posing as the charity that Jay’s funeral proceeds would support.

Jay’s heartbroken mum and dad

Among those in attendance will be Jay’s parents, who are expected to have a major part in the service. Parents Debbie Duncan, 55, and Warren Slater, 58, have already voiced their sorrow at the loss of their cherished son.

Warren has attacked internet detractors who target his family. In June, Warren came to Tenerife in search of his missing son and vented his dissatisfaction with the police during Jay’s hunt.

According to Warren, “All those trollers having a go at us, they don’t know how we feel, why don’t they come up here and have a look and see for themselves how dangerous it is?”

The devastated father said, “We just still can’t believe it; it’s been so tough on us, and I want people to think about us as parents and what we are going through.” He also discussed the horrible toll the sad occurrence had on the family.

Jay’s mother has also conveyed her sorrow at their son’s passing. In a heartbreaking letter placed at a monument, Debbie wrote the following:

“To my lovely boy.” I’m very sad you were lost to us. I really do miss you. You will always be youthful and will always be missed. I adore you, mother.

Older brother who helped join the search

Similar to his father, Jay’s elder brother Zak also participated in the hunt on Tenerife, a Canary Island. The 24-year-old wrote the following heartfelt message at his sibling’s memorial:

I love you, little brother. This is not something I ever would have imagined myself doing.

“I’ll take care of my parents. I hope you and Granddad are having a great time up there. Wish I could see you again soon. Zak XX, I love you, rest easy, dude.”

Zak’s partner Jessica has also expressed her grief following the announcement of Jay’s death.

Jay’s best mates

Numerous acquaintances of Jay, who was reportedly well-liked and a “wind up merchant,” will also be present at the burial.

In addition to expressing his sorrow at the loss, Jay’s close friend Brad Hargreaves has shared happy recollections of his companion. It is thought that Brad was among the last individuals to talk with Jay before his passing.

During an interview with This Morning on ITV, Brad talked about his friend Jay’s “zeal for life.”

It’s also thought that Jay’s pal Lucy Mae Law, who was with him in Tenerife, will be there. Lucy was there at the party in Tenerife that Jay went before to his abduction.

After Lucy, a teenager, utilised social media to spread the word about her missing friend, she became the victim of hateful trolls.

Corrie star may attend

Vicky Entwistle, a star of Coronation Street, may or may not attend the funeral. A distant relative of the Slaters is Entwistle, 55, who portrayed Janice Battersby in the classic soap opera.

The actress disclosed that her godmother was Slater’s grandma in a post that brought attention to the kid’s abduction. The teen appeared in the television series The Bill and Holby City.

“The grandson of my godmother vanished. His mother left about 7:00 p.m. to participate in the police search. Hopefully, they locate him. Pray for him, please,” she tweeted.

Joint family statement

On behalf of the entire family, a statement was also made, which says:

“A devoted son of Debbie and Warren, a beloved nephew of Glen and Katie, a close cousin of Maddie and Tillie, a devoted brother of Zak and brother-in-law of Jessica, a treasured grandson of Dawn, June, and the late Dougie, and a devoted friend to many.”

“He also enjoyed lounging around with his pals.”
