Emmerdale actress Paula Lane has spoken out on her future on the ITV soap after her character Ella Forster’s recent arrest and fan speculation over her exit
After an unexpected “exit twist” involving their character this week, an Emmerdale star has clarified their future on the hit ITV soap opera.
In a dramatic Emmerdale episode on Thursday, Ella Forster was arrested for assaulting Wendy Posner. Viewers wondered if actress Paula Lane had left her position because of this, but she has recently talked about the emotional moments.
Paula appeared to hint to Ella’s future while also illuminating her motivations and maybe suggesting whether Ella would stay in the job. The Mirror claims that she said there was “no way out” for her character, which sparked Wendy’s outburst.
Even though Ella played by Paula is in detention, statements made after the show imply that Ella won’t be leaving Emmerdale anytime soon. After the crucial scenes aired, Paula said, “Wendy attacked Ella because she thought there was no way out.” Ella took a deep breath at Wendy’s lovely remarks about how others cared about her. It is hard for her to imagine that ever being the case. She finds it annoying because her new home will always be aware of who she really is.”
She continued: “There is no hiding only in prison, that bizarrely is her safe place and she knows exactly what to do to get back there.” With Paula implying that other characters could help Ella get beyond her traumatic past and make sure she can seamlessly reintegrate into village life, it would seem that viewers might anticipate Ella returning to the village life.
“She’s navigating this real new life and all the different levels of emotions she feels, and I’m really enjoying playing her,” the actress revealed. I believe that occasionally people have high expectations for new characters, but when you look closely at Ella, you’ll see that she has a lot of depth, and it’s fantastic for me and the audience to learn about the enigmatic, unknown aspect of how she will survive.
“This is a great chance to see her mature once more. Although I wish she could move on, the tragedy she has endured will always leave a mark. To ensure that she has a bright future, she needs the proper people in her life to support and encourage her.”
